Our relationship is always about us waiting it seems, and the light at the end of the tunnel is near! My Fiance and I started dating in Dec of 04. We lived in the same college town until Dec 05 with us being 5 hours apart during the summer. Then he had officers training (Army stuff) 30 minutes away and we saw each other every weekend or every other. About 3x/month. We spent the summer living together…9 short weeks of wonderfulness. Then, in August (2006), he got stationed in Savannah. Since then we have constantly been apart! We saw each other every 6-8 weeks, the summer of 07 I took an internship in Seattle, then I returned to college, then in October 07 he got deployed, now he lives in GA again and I live in MO! Am I confusing you? It confuses me! I knew when we started dating it’d be a 3+ year long distance thing…and by the time we live together it will literally have been 3 years and 4 months! UGH. Are we crazy? Sometimes I think so. I look at the number and I can’t believe we actually did it.
We’re finally getting married in June and in November we FINALLY get to live together in the same state. In the same house. Together. The thought of it makes me so happy. I am SO sick and tired of only getting to see him occassionally! I feel like I’m missing out!
I’m having an unusually crabby week and this realization that it’s all coming to an end soon has lifted my spirits. And, I kind of needed a hug, and obviously my Fiance isn’t here.

Well (((hugs))) from the hive – Congrats to you and your Fiance. That amount of time to be long distance takes some serious work. I admire you and all the other bees that do it.

My fiance and I were long distance for about 4 years (we were both in the Air Force and we were pretty much across the country from each other) but we finally moved in together in August and are getting married in 25 days and I haven’t been happier! Good luck to you and I’m happy to hear there are other couples out there who have proved the nay-sayers wrong!

We’ve been doing the long distance thing for a little over two years…and by the time we’re done it will have been almost four! So I definitely know how you feel…that’s so exciting that you’re getting to the end of it!!
Oh and HUGS from the hive! (even though I’m sure you’d rather them be from the Fiance…)

Thanks I just kinda wanted a high five, LoL. And it is REALLY great to know i’m not alone. There is an end, bluebonnet! The light’s just far away, LoL.

Bluebonnet and I have already talked about this, but I’m in the same spot! And it stinks. But it’ll be so worth it in the end. I think the only way I’m able to keep going sometimes is to think about how we’ll be spending the rest of our lives together after another year apart! But you’re so close, so congrats on being almost there! And PS – We’re almost date twins, except I have to wait another year after your wedding! 🙂

haha, lauralou852! My friend is my date twin, one year later in 2010 too! Small world. The only thing that kept me going all this time through his deployments and everything was thinking about unhappy i’d be without him, so i’d rather have him, but not have him physically near me. Just, a few years down the road. But yeah it really sucks.

We’ve been long distance for the past two years and we’re getting ready to move in together in May. It’s super exciting, and after three years we’re thrilled to be back in the same place. Congratulations! I understand how happy you are 🙂

I don’t even live in the same country as my FH. You’ll be ok.

Congrats and good luck! I admire all of you women who are strong enough to have your FIs deployed. I’d go out of my mind with worry. Thank him for me, will you? And when you’re finally together forever, it will be worth the wait

Sounds like Cereza needs a hug too …and everyone else who is a long distance relationship goer!
I never said I wouldn’t be ok, only that I was excited after over 4 years. If you’ve never had a loved one fight for this country, you have no idea what that was like. And he was in another country, by the way, for 15 months! So, been there done that. Got shot at a few times, too . Yes, I pulled out the Soldier Card
Thanks for the hugs and support all! I noticed my week old posting popped back up and dropped in to say thanks!
