Although I am not “offically” engaged, I happened to noticed that the Wedding Co. show is coming to Toronto in January. It is specifically designed showcasing Toronto local vendors for all types of wedding needs (venue, flowers, photography, etc). I definitely want to get married in Toronto and use local vendors if possible, but I’m not sure whether this show is any good or if it is just really stuffy and uptight. The show only comes once a year, so if we decide to go, we will be going before we are engaged, so I want to make sure its worth dragging my SO. Here is the website:
Has anyone from Toronto ever gone to the Wedding Co. shows?

@LuckyinLove17: I hadnt heard of this one. I went to one in the Spring and I think they have one in February or something. It the National BRidal show I think. It was ok..nothing too exciting..I would suggest bringing a friend insted of your fiance cause my fiance refused to go and I’m glad I didnt bring him cause he would have been bored to tears

@sweetchiquita12: Its odd because this one is actually designed for couples. I think its tagline is “For Toronto Urban Couple”, lol. I think it is more of an event that a huge show like the National Bridal Show, which I have been to for a friend’s wedding planning. I’m going to ask him later in December and see if he would be interested in going. Although, I have a feeling that it will just be showing really expensive local vendors. But it will be good to see what there is to offer in Toronto. Thanks!

@LuckyinLove17: It probably is different if they advertise it that way. I did notice that the vendors they had at the national bridal show were quite expensive and I really just went there to see what free stuff I could get or win LOL!!

I haven’t been to the Wedding Co show, but I have a friend who’s been a vendor there before so I know a little about it. It’s definitely a smaller market show and the vendors are all selected by the people who run the show, so it’s not like you can just call and rent/book a booth like at the bigger shows. They usually have two a year (spring & fall). The fall one is more indie-themed and a bit more quirky, the spring one I think is more lux and higher end. They definitely cater to local vendors but since I haven’t been, I couldn’t say what the average prince point of the vendors is. Might be worth checking out even just for inspiration!

I went last year to a bunch. this show had some pretty neat displays, a lot more elaborate than your average wedding show. There was a little bit of food and cake sampling just like any wedding show. But if you want to go to the most crazy luxe show just to get ideas, i would go to the wedluxe show.
You can google the show name and usually you can find some reviews and photos of the shows so you know what to expect.
