We splurged on our wedding night hotel but we both agreed after that we should’ve just gone home lol

We splurged. We booked a 5* hotel in central London for our wedding night. We also pushed our honeymoon back by a day so we could have 2 nights there and really enjoy it. We didn’t tell ANYONE where we were staying that night so we got some major peace a quiet.

I remember the morning after our wedding, woke up feeling so happy, we had no wedmin, no housemin nothing … pure bliss.

My Mother-In-Law paid for us to stay at this little bed and breakfast. She didn’t actually consult with us before booking/paying for it which is unfortunate because we kind of hate bed and breakfasts, they just aren’t our thing. The room was okay, the bed was god awful, but honestly it didn’t really matter. I don’t think you need to splurge on the hotel room for the wedding night.

We splurged on the honeymoon which was way more worth it.

We live 2 hours from NOLA so we flew out from there. Our wedding was a Sat night & we stayed an hour from NOLA at a gorgeous historic mansion for two nights before leaving for Banff on Monday morning. It was awesome and we didn’t really do much the 2 days, just kind of lounged around the mansion, had lots of sex and ate a lot lol. I personally felt it was worth it to splurge && the wedding night was important for us so we wanted someplace romantic!

We came home.  We knew we would just end up crashing and didn’t want to spend the money when we would just prefer to be in our own bed.

We were considering splurging on a hotel,  but we’re marrying Friday,  having the reception Saturday,  and leaving for the honeymoon Sunday and decided it was less hassle and expense to just go home.

My first wedding, we spent the night on an air mattress in my brother’s living room (my brother lived in the major city closest to our college, where we got married, and we had an early morning flight the day after the wedding for our honeymoon).

I would not suggest going *that* cheap.

For this wedding, Fi and I are planning on going home to our own bed. ๐Ÿ™‚

I splurged on a hotel, but we don’t drink much and everyone bought us drinks at the reception, so we got a bit accidentally plastered and had hangovers from hell the morning after so couldn’t enjoy the breakfast and just wanted to go home!!! I think I’d have rather gone home to my own bed!

We stayed at our venue and it was lovely. I think I would splurge in your case, even though you won’t spend much time there, it is your wedding night which is (hopefully) once in a lifetime! ๐Ÿ™‚

We stayed at a rental house at the venue. We couldn’t have come home and didn’t take a honeymoon immediately. My daughter stayed at my parent’s rental house for that evening, so we were able to do whatever we pleased that night and the following morning.

I splurged a little for our room the night before and the night after. We’re getting married in the early afternoon on Saturday and it’s about a 40 minute drive from our home. So I figured that it would be nice to have a hotel room booked so we don’t have to worry about being late to our own wedding. I got us a suite in a nice resort and got a reasonably good deal for 2 nights there through AAA and monitoring their website for sales. We ended up with a one bedroom suite (with living room, bathroom, kitchen) for 2 nights for slightly less than 300 total.

We are getting married 10 mins from home so we are going home. I’d rather spend the money for a hotel on our honeymoon.

We kind of went in the middle and got the Jacuzzi suite at a not so great hotel. It was fine but nothing spectacular. We were flying out the next morning so we just came back from the wedding and crashed then got up and left. If we were spending more time there I could see splurging but it just wasn’t important to us
