@mu_t:  lol – I hear this all the time – that sucks so bad!

I had a pair of Aldo boots I wanted soooo  bad where it happened the opposite way – they were only for sale ont eh canada site 🙁 I was going to ship them to a friend and then have her ship them to me and I ended up not doing it because it was too much to coordinate.

There’s a guy who runs a buisness right at the boarder… you get it shipped to him and for a fee he’ll ship to you. I can’t remember the name of the buisness, sorry.

I found this? I havent used one of these services but my step mom does all the time.

@mu_t: There are a few shipping companies that will allow you to ship them to a border location, where you can pick them up, if that’s worth it. I live in Winnipeg, so it’d be about an hour away for me, so I’d definitely consider an option like that, though I don’t know if you’re in such a position.

@mu_t:  Ahh so frustrating!

Try asking around to your friends and see if anyone has a US postal box?  My cousin has one so whenever she (or any of her friends and family) order stuff from the US, it gets shipped there.  She lives within an hour from the border so she just drives down to pick it up.  You never know, one of your friends could have a similar thing going?

@mu_t: Seeing as though you live in Toronto (i.e. close to the border), get it shipped through Kinek. You get it shipped to one of the addresses listed, and they hold it for you (up to 30 days, or else you pay a daily penalty). I saved loads of money during my wedding planning by getting stuff shipped there. They will email or text you when your shipment comes in.

My now-husband ordered customized Nikes for his groomsmen, and they wouldn’t ship to Canada. We had them shipped there (for free!) and paid $5 for each pair to pick them up. Total steal.

@mu_t:  Your other option is to see if the store will bring them in for you.  BB&B had some stuff in the US, but not Canada, and they were willing to order it in to the store for me!

Yup, but I’ve noticed that some stores have gotten a bit better.

What really irks me is when some places still do drastically different US/Canada prices.. like hello, our dollar is very close to the US dollar and has been for many years now.

I love to shop whenever I’m in the US. Stuff is so expensive here.

@mu_t:  I can’t recall the name of the place, but there is a place right in Buffalo near the border that you can have your stuff shipped to, for like $5 they will hold it for you you to pick up.

ETA: found the site! I haven’t used them personally, but I have a friend who has a few times…

Ughhhhh I hate that too. I use myus.com as a shipping forwarding company but it can be expensive. Why can’t Canada have the same advantages as USA ughhhhh we touch the same land damnit.

@mu_t:  I totally ran into the same problems you are having, and sometimes even the sites that do ship to Canada have such expensive cross-border shipping rates that you pay more for shipping than the item is worth!  Anyways, I used a shipping depot similar to the one mgol25 mentioned in her post.  I probably had over 50 boxes shipped there by the time my wedding came around, I paid $5 per package delivered there and it was awesome!!

@mu_t:  It’s not just for weddings. I find tons of amazing deals all the time on everything…then the $80 required to ship it to Canada, or the fact that it can’t be shipped to Canada, breaks my heart 😛 Americans have more selection and better prices. If we could find jobs there, we would move.

Myus.com.. Ten dollar fee per year, you are given a “suite #” and can ship to there and they ship it to you. Its significantly more expensive but I’ve used it twice to get products that don’t ship to Canada and have been pleased w the service. Good luck!
