We are getting married in Vanuatu and having a party once we return. I was originally thinking an Island (Vanuatu) themed party but it’ll be winter here in Australia.
How do you think people would feel about an Island theme in Winter or should I do another theme? Any suggestions? Anyone else done this?
(NOTE:I’m a Drama teacher so I love to dress up and orginally wanted to for the wedding until we made the Destination Wedding choice)

I think this is called a shameless *bump*

I voted mad hatter! You are a drama teacher, go big! I do love the idea of a island themed party in winter but I (don’t laugh at me here I’m from FL we have year round summer) feel like its always islandy/summer and warm like in Australia. Going mad hatter gives you a lot more creative freedom to let theinner child out and start the wedding on a super fun foot In My Humble Opinion. If I had more time planning mine. I probably would have done something like that.

I voted Vanuatu. I haven’t done it in years, but I used to throw a Luau party in the winter and it was always a big hit. It’s definately a little unusual, but people will know that going in and that’s part of the fun.

Needing more help with this now I’m back from the wedding. I’m thinking I’m going to go with the island theme even though it’ll be cold.

How cold will it be? I would think an island theme would be fun, but people might not be very island-y if they’re dressed for cold weather.

Well I live in Brisbane Australia so ‘cold’ here isn’t so bad. Maybe 15 degrees… not sure what that is in American measurement.
Most of the party will be inside. Outside we could have fires to keep it warm.
I’m thinking grass skirts over leggings or jeans would be okay. Masybe just wearing lays. I mainly just want to play laid back island music, drink cockatils and decorate with sand shells and tiki torches.
What do you think?

Mad Hatter would be fun 🙂
