- Wedding: October 2012
Past couple of days has been a roller coaster of emotions. Two days ago, I was about to leave work when I got a call from the district manager. She called to ask me if I could be at a meeting at the store on Weds at 7:30 in the morning. I said I could. I knew something was up. Our company has been closing pharmacies almost every year. And she has never called for a store meeting before especially when our managing pharmacist is on vacation(he was told before he left).
So I knew something was up. My co-workers and I were there when she arrived with another woman. Anyway, she told us that they are closing a number of pharmacies and ours is one of them. The woman with her turns out to be from HR(human resources).
They are closing our pharmacy forever at 3 today, which has been there for about 50 years. It has been hard. I have worked with my co-workers for 5 years and consider them my family. And my co-workers have been there even longer then me. One for like 15 years, the other 10 years, etc. And working with them has been awesome. ANd my boss is one of the best I have ever had!!!
There is good news though. We are not fired or let go. We have all been offered other positions throughout the company. Since I have been working at my store and then at another one for extra hours, I will be losing 10 hours of work a week because I will now be working part-time at the second store I was helping out at(at least I am familiar with the place I am going to, so thats good). But I am hoping to eventually find a store that needs a few hours of help so I can get back some of the hours I will be losing.
Bees, have any of you been in this type of situation?? Had a good job, an awesome boss and co-workers and then something happens and you wont work with them again?? Or even see them again?? Since my boss is on vacation, I wont see him until my wedding. Well, that is if he and his wife comes, which I think they will. Hopefully.
Its sucks. Im glad I still have a job, but everything is changing and lets admit, change is never easy.
