I am so excited that I needed to make a post about my K1visa arriving to the Department of homeland security. My hubby to be is american and i am canadian which is making us do the K1 fiance visa process to get married and for I to move to America. I wish i took pictures of the process of the K1visa packet but it was a VERY loooooooooooong packet to make.
The department of homeland security wanted:
- a cover letter, money order (it was $340)
- the form I-129F (a form about myself and my fiance-from our ages to if we were related..which is a big NO)
- a page about how we met ( it was on xbox and he bought me a plane ticket to SC to meet him)
- a form that we each had to fill out about our living situations and our careers (he needs to make 100% over the poverty line)
- two passport pictures (we each needed one),
- his birth certificate
- two fiane intent to marry letters (both stating we want to get married)
- his legal paper work (he was adopted and his last name was changed so we had to include those documents)
- 25 pictures of us with the date and a discription of with we were doing (it had to be full body shots..no selfies!)
- all of our travel documents (boarding passes, plane tickets, gass & food recipets) which is a lot since we see each other every 2-3 months
- engagement ring recipets
- All of our text messages (which was a lot)
- Phone call logs ( i just did facetime logs since we never called long distance)
- and our facebook relastionship (you can see a facebook relastionship on fb and it will show all posts between eachother)
Basically it was a lot of work and time but we sent that sucker out to texas and my fiance got a text message the other day stating they got the packet and it will take two-three weeks for them to review and let us know if they “approve” for the next steps or if we are missing douments (which better not be the case!).
I am so excited but I am SO nervous! my entire future with my fiance is in the hands of some person who knows NOTHING about us and our relastionship ( other than this binder full of our relastionship) all i can do is hope for the best and be positive/patient but i just want to be apprived NOW so i can start the next step…my medical exams!

This is super exciting and what a monumental moment for the both of you!
I’m also Canadian and my fiance is American. I haven’t yet started assembling our official packet yet, as we still have lots of time and plans for things to come, but I do have a large stash of collectible things for our packet, like boarding passes, tickets to events and photographs. Oh dear.. you save food receipts?! I never even though of doing that!!! I will have to scrounge around and look for things that I haven’t yet thrown out. yiikes! thanks for the tip!
So cute, you guys met on xbox! Fiance and I met playing an MMORPG XD bwhahaha. our go to response when people ask us how we met, we reply “at a party” since I joined his speedrun party one day.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that everything goes smoothly for you guys!!!

fluffykaiju: thank you! I hope it all goes smoothly for you when you start it all! We actually have the final interview (for the k1visa) on Wednesday! And we will have the visa that day (if I’m accepted) it’s been very smooth for us ..it’s only taken us 4 months!

That’s amazing only 4 months!!! That is such a huge relief, I’m always terrified our future application will take months on end!
I’m so excited for you both !!!

Wow! Holy mackerel that is a lot of documentation. I was surprised at the 25 full body shots of you guys doing things together, but the one that surprised me the most was all your text messages! Really?!

How do you submit the text messages?

futuremrsmunitz: congratulations!! I’m headed in the opposite direction (my Fiance is an American with Canadian PR), but I commute with a lot of American/Canadian couples, and I’ve heard over and over again just how exhausting getting that K1 can be.

fluffykaiju: amygdala: havenspartyof2: jily: WE GOT APPROVED!! now we can finally plan our wedding and i will be moving in with him in 3 Months!! i guess they want full body shoots because they are harder to adjust or photoshop? haha i have no idea why they ask for somethings that they did…the text messages i screenshottted on myphone and then printed them and added to our package.

Way weird on the texts, phone calls log and the body shots! LOL made me think of how many full body shots I have with Darling Husband.
How exciting though, hopefully all goes smoothly for you both!

I’ve been with my Fiance for 7 years and honestly doubt we have 25 full body shot photos of us both… 😒
Congrats bee! So exciting!!

Yay, congrats on the k1 approval, that’s so exciting!! (And I can’t believe it only took you guys four months. My husband’s took more than double that!!)
Hopefully you guys have kept copies of everything, ’cause you’re basically gonna have to do that entire packet all over once you arrives in the US and applies for your AOS. 😛

Irish Terrier: haha dont worry we made a copy of the I29F! I heard the AOS is WAY worse then the k1 so im just takign a breather now before that all happens… i still can’t believe the price for the AOS!

Damn! When we did my K1 we sent maybe 5 photos and none were full body shots. Good luck on your visa journey! 🙂
