We booked our tux place back in April ’10. Signed the contract with them and everything. The month prior to booking I spoke to the manager at the tux shop to get the prices of the tuxes we were looking at. He happened to be a friend of FI’s uncle. He quoted us 109.99 for the groomsmen and the groom’s free and then the FOG and FOB were half price. I wrote it all down word for word including style numbers. When the guys ask about prices for their tuxes we go based on what we were told. 109.99. Well FOG went in to get fitted and they told him that his tux was $175 and half would be about $87.50. He calls me to ask about the price difference and I am floored that they changed the price on us. So I call the tux place and the manager is gone till tomorrow and so I call the store in a different town and he looked back to the price of the tux when we booked and it was $129.99 and the former manager was giving us $20 off each tux and doing the dad’s tuxes at half price.
Can they change the prices on us after we already booked with them and put down our deposit??

I was having that issue too. We went to a bridal show and they were having a special and they said we could just apply it to our already placed/deposited order, so that is what we wanted to do.
Well, yesterday, they were trying to tell me that the prices have changed, so they had to charge us more. I argued very nicely with them and let them know what was told to us at the bridal show and also that I have my receipt from when we placed the order with the lower price and the paid deposit. I ended up getting another $10.00 off, but I had to fight for it. I did it very nicely though, and the cost is still coming out less than the original price. If you have your receipt with everything that you ordered, make sure you let them know and also that you would be happy to stop by to talk to them. Try not to go “bridezilla” on them, but be firm. They should be able to honor the original price, if you have your receipt.

i ran into this problem with men’s warehouse – we were told 129.99 but when the went and got fitted it was $150.00
im not sure if there is a deposit somewhere in there that they will get back. -FI is dealing with it. i have enough stuff to do.

All the guys have to pay a $20 deposit too. I am pretty miffed. The guy in the other store location said she should honor what the former manager quoted, and if she doesnt then to call him and he would take care of it. I hope he does if she won’t

If you have a signed contract with prices listed they are legally obligated to stay with the prices quoted. If they refuse you have legal grounds but you might also remind them of how many people can be reached via the internet and poor word of mouth travels fast…and good word of mouth brings in business. 🙂
