@DrD711:  Hello Newbee!  I’m not sure if I had welcomed you to the hive yet!

Running is a great way to help pass the time while waiting, and healty too!

I posted some of my ideas under ‘Who’s NOT likely getting a holiday proposal’, so they are here:

Go Shopping! check!

Go to the Spa!

Get a hair cut!  check!

Get some new clothes!  check!

OR do what I did–Buy yourself a lovely right hand ring!!  check!

The only thing left for me to do is go the spa and get a massage or facial!  Can’t wait!

@SomedaymrsWDS:  +1 a woman after my own heart lol.

I’m in my first year of grad school so I have that to keep me busy, and over my winter break I am going to make a list of things i want to do before i get engaged, and stop moping around so much! lol.

@DrD711:  This is going to sound super vain but I’ve been paying more attention to working on my outward appearance lol.

I’ve always been the type to wear very little makeup and rarely have painted nails. Now I occupy my time moisturizing, doing my hair, doing my nails, clearing up my skin, and toning up my body so when I DO get engaged I’ll be all ready for photos! haha

It also gives me something else to look at on Pinterest besides wedding stuff.

Wow that sounded so vain. Sorry guys lol

@DrD711:  Wow, congrats on the half marathon! That is a half marathon more than what I could do! lol

Agree though about keeping busy..there is nothing like doing nothing that causes that pesky waiting itch to creep out of nowhere!

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia so I’m lucky that we have mountains and the ocean right here to keep me very busy! But we tend to get about 8 months of rain a year (ugh!) so that also means a lot of indoor time for this girl! You’d be amazed at how much stuff I do indoors to keep my mind busy (I tend to paint my nails a lot this time of the year to say the least)

I find reading a book really takes my mind off everything. And exercise! Takes a lot of focus and it makes you feel 100X better in the process!

I should be studying for exams…

Oh and I joined a gym. That’s a good distraction

@DrD711:  I’m impressed by all of your running! I wish I could get into it…anyway, I like baking, reading, crafting, traveling, animals, spending time with friends and family, etc. I just wanted to suggest you maybe not think of it as things to “distract” you while “waiting,” because what will you do when the engagement and wedding are over and there isn’t anything else to “wait” for? After I got married I kept feeling a sort of void because I didn’t have some big event that time was leading up to, and it felt strange. My husband pointed out that there isn’t always going to be something big planned for the near future, and that we should just enjoy the every day stuff, too. Sorry to get off topic, but realizing that made me feel a lot better, and I hope it’ll help you a little as you wait for an engagement and wedding planning ๐Ÿ™‚

Yoga! It’s utterly calming and relaxing. However, my studio recently changed their schedule, and my favorite class was canceled, and so now I don’t know when I’ll be able to go, boo ๐Ÿ™

Spin classes are a huge hobby of mine! I also love shopping (even though I rarely get to go), and I love a good glass of wine with my girls.
