People are always talking about all the things they love and miss about college but I want to know what you don’t or won’t miss about the college life.
For me? I definately won’t miss registering for classes. It is the biggest pain in the ass. I also won’t miss the limited commuter parking. I go to a small school and they completely destroyed an entire commuter parking lot by building a new cafeteria. (What the heck was wrong with the old one?!) So now I have the option of parking way off campus, in a tiny parking lot or a parking lot that is shared with residents. The freshman commuters get 3 large parking lots, and all upperclassman get 3 tiny ones? What’s up with that?

I went for awhile and withdrew, but I’m going back this fall. I had a horrible time my first semester, I was in the wrong program for me and knew right away so I rarely went to class. So that makes my “won’t miss” list more biased towards residence and not the entire experience.
What I don’t miss:
-being kept up until 3am by a roommate
-being woken up at 3am by annoying people on my res floor
-lines for the shower (alternatively, the entire bathroom floor always being covered in an inch of water)
-exams – the “things on the exam” sheet passed out for all of my classes had topics on it that we had never covered in class and weren’t on the syllabus

@Gingersnap: It’s been so long since I’ve lived in a dorm I’d forgotten about all of those things! Granted, I only lived in one for one semester but I also hated the lines for the showers (and laundry!), the loud people on my floor and the roaches. Oh, and “fire drills” at 3am when I had an 8am class.

Can I just say college?
Those sound like horrible experiences BTW!

@Tunacupcakes: Living in a residence hall is probably the worst thing that can ever happen to anyone. And yes, you can say just college, haha. I really haven’t had any enjoyable college experiences and I’ve been in for a little over 2 years.

I do not miss the exams and papers and having group projects where you’re the only one who actually does anything!
Basically anything academic lol. I miss it like hell though!

I got married after my 2nd year of college and moved off campus. The best thing about my first marriage! LOL! Def won’t miss roommate issues. Her deadbeat boyfriend who unofficially moved into our dorm, left his beer bottles all over my stuff (we were underaged and would’ve gotten in huge trouble for that one), them having sex in the next bed over, oh her making drug deals for her boyfriend, random guys banging on our window at 2am looking for her. Also, I don’t miss having to wear flip-flops in the shower and being careful that no part of my body touched any part of the shower. While I had an overall good college experience, the roommate/dorm situation I was glad to leave behind!

HOMEWORK! I know sometimes during the summer, I miss it but I can honestly say that I am O-V-E-R it. I’m tired of the ridiculous papers and the even worse discussions.

I haven’t been in college for years, so all I remember is the good stuff.LOL! I can say I hated being in dorms with community bathrooms. So glad I moved off campus my senior year! Everything else was great. 🙂

Gah! The roommates! I don’t miss them at all: Not the one who drank all night and got pissed because I was up early the next morning (Hello, some people are actually here to learn and have to work as well). I don’t miss the roommate who slept through her classes and generally spent her day eating my food and watching soaps on my tv. My first single room was heaven!

I went to a small school (half the class size of my high school) and there was always so much drama. I definitely don’t miss that aspect. I also don’t miss the gross cafeteria food and the 900 calorie bean burritos :P.
Is it weird that I actually do miss the community showers because they had an endless supply of warm water?

I love this thread! I HATE when people say, “Enjoy it! It’s the best years of your life!!” REALLY?!?! Studying my ass off every day, dealing with cocky professors, deadlines all the time, no sleep, and living off student loans?!!? I hope to God these are not the best years of my life…. Some of my least memorable moments
– Roommate and her bf having a farting contest on the top bunk while I’m trying to sleep on the bottom bunk
– Nasty ass showers
– Running into boys peeing in the all-girls bathroom
– The worms I receieved from the dining hall (which recently got a 67 on surprise inspection)
Ugh… I could go on and on… I moved back home for a while during sophomore year. FI and I are now coming up on a year in our apartment and it’s the only thing about college life that has kept me sane. It’s my safe haven! December can’t get here soon enough, so ready to graduate!!

Thankfully I went to a commuter school, so I didn’t have to endure dorms!! But i did hate taking classes as an elective, and since it was for someone elses major, we had to deal with all the heavier course load. i totally think they should have elective and major classes split!!

I won’t miss homework definitely. It’s just a pain in the butt to do homework. I can’t wait until May to not ever do homework again. I also loathe writing papers. To me that is just the most worst part of college.
