I’d never heard of Moissanite before and definitely never heard of Save the Dates.

1. Cash bars (never attended a wedding that had one- only open)

2. Moissanite & Asha

3. Not being ‘allowed’ to wear white to a wedding- I still think this is silly

4. Various other etiquette rules I’ve never heard of

5. Dollar dances

6. First look, boudoir, trash the dress pictures

7. candy buffets & photobooths at weddings

8. brooch bouquets

I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting…

@Eight6Eleven: I knew about moissanite when it first came out, too! I worked at JC Penney late 2004-early 2006 and they always had commercials and stuff about it over the speakers.

@Soon2BD-CBee: What don’t you get about a cash bar? I feel like it’s pretty self-explanatory?

Heh, I knew what a lot of this was already! Thanks to the internet, mostly, and other weddings that I’ve been to.

What I didn’t:
– Not handwriting envelopes is “rude”
– Trash the dress and bridal portraits
– Asha/Amora

I’m sure there’s more, especially on the etiquette side.

– Seating charts of any kind. Seriously, I was like “Wait…this is really a thing?”

– Out of Town bags

– Will you be my bridesmaid? type gifts/cards

– First looks (glad I heard about it though, one of the BEST parts of the day!)

– All kinds of etiquette things I ignored

I agree with many things that were mentioned.

1)First look…this was an option? 2)Strassingwhodawhata?..still confused 3)Moissaniteywhat? 4)STD…I was soooo confused when I first saw that.  I thought …wow, they talk about everything including sexually transmitted diseases.  Guess I still need work with all the acronymns on here 5)that a lot of girls think it’s silly to wait for marriage to have sex (still don’t agree with this) 6)sweetheart table 7)paper lanterns as centerpieces…so cool 8)knock-off dresses….geesh…how come I didn’t know this was an option sooner 9)that almost every girl goes through dress-regret and that there are places for you to see people’s before&afters (I wouldn’t have had to worry so much)

I’m a South American/caribbean bee, so for me loads of stuff on here is new. But just to limit it to the top things:

  • promise rings
  • parents paying for the wedding and having a say in who gets invited
  • the cricut 🙂
  • dollar dances
  • Save the Dates
  • Registries

I just love the hive 🙂

1. Moissy/Asha. I WISH I KNEW SOONER.

2. First look

3. Sweetheart table

4. Trash the dress.

I have learned so much here. I’m sure there’s more, but I just can’t think of it.

Diamond candles

“waiting” for engagement

Chinese knock-off dress makers

getting married and then having a “real wedding”

(I’m from the Northwest but live in the Midwest now.  I spent a lot of time on another wedding website about 6 years ago so I knew many other bridey things from then.)

@the boss of you:

Besides all of the above I learnt about:

Tears of Joy

Ribbon Wands

Sweetheart Table

I Spy

All of which I have made for my daughter’s wedding. Along with STDs, Card Box, Toasting Flutes with ‘bling’, Printed envelopes for invitations, ceremony programs and lots more.  She loves them all, just as well.

It would help to have a listing of all the Out of Town, Fl, SIL, Maid/Matron of Honor, etc.  Some I have worked out, but others are just beyond me.

When I got married it was a lot simpler.
