We always had female dogs when I was growing up, and it bugged me to no end when everyone automatically assumed they were a “he”. You’ve been hunkered down at privates-level rubbing and petting my dog all over for five minutes while you ask me stuff about her; how have you not noticed the distinct lack of penis?

@linguo42: AND THIS.

Also at the dog park I HATE when people get upset when I spray their dog in the face with water to keep them from jumping up on me and knocking me down.  No, it’s not pesticide.  And no, I won’t put the water bottle away.  CONTROL YOUR DOG or I will do it for you.

I once saw a woman whose skin on her forearm was ripped off by an unruly dog…the owner told her she should be wearing sleeves.  I was like “Hey lady, here’s my card.  Call me when you file the lawsuit.”

-when I had my Jack Russell… “oh thats like Eddie from Frasier right???”

– when I had a boxer with the ex… “put a fucking muzzle on your dog… are they not banned in Ontario anyways????” saying this screaming at me, thinking my dog was a Pitbull… um dudes.. she’s a boxers and small children could ride her while whipping her with bacon and she’s still be a happy camper”

– Current dog…. “what kind of dog is she?”.. Okay I’m just being snobby right now ’cause thats really not that bad, but she’s a German Shorthaired Pointer people~!

Just because I have a dog does not make it OK for your dog to poop on my lawn and leave it on my lawn.

Why yes, we do have to work 9-5…like every other normal non lazy human being in this world. That does not make us animal abusers.

I have a golden retriver/lab mix, but he looks pretty much like a lab only a little more reddish.  We also live in a fairly rural area, so I don’t often encounter others when I walk him.  So I don’t usually get dumb questions/comments.  I sure am having a good chuckle at some of yours!

@Oneeleven: I want a boxer!  I know people sometimes confuse them for pitbulls, but I guess I never thought of them flipping out while I was walking my dog.  Not that that would stop me from owning one someday, if it’s in the cards.

that my well-behaved, sitting calmly pitbull is NOT more dangerous than your little yapping purse dog

i may have had an issue with a woman who told me that “dogs like mine” were why there were leash laws (and my dog was on a leash!) while her little dog tried to latch onto mine’s achilles tendon – ummmm yea, my dog is totally the problem here

@Oneeleven: we have a german shorthaired pointer too!!!

we got him from a rescue and he was SO sick and SO skinny. it took him forever to gain weight and a woman at the dog park came up to me and told me that i needed to feed my dog more because I was starving him and he was malnourished. Fiance kinda went nuts. the dog eats 2x what it says on the bag, hes just a skinny guy. All this while her unattended 70lb dog was going after my 5 month old border collie. grrr…

I absolutly detest when people ask me if I take baggies with me when I walk my dog. Really I have two dogs I always have poop bags in my pocket, car, purse etc. Stop asking me if I’m irresponsible.

I have a beautfiul border colie who gets in a crouching position when she sees another dog. Everyone always asks me if she is going to attack. Have you really not heard of a border collie? It’s just her instict and she is the most friendliest loveable pup.

Lastly my youngest pup doesn’t like to leave my side (we are working with a trainer on this) and people will come up to me and ask me if she’s abused. No she loves her mommy and I take very good care of her, hence the reason she is attached. If I abused her I would think she would run away.

And why do people hate black dogs? Really?!

@Gerbera: My family all considers me a semi animal abuser because fi and I both work during the day. It makes me so mad! I’m glad I’m not the only one!

They are a big ‘no no’ here in Ontario (and maybe other provinces, not sure) and its illegal to breed them or have them in public without a muzzle

@Lovebird724:

And I friggen HATE this.  I’ll be honest with you… my Jack Russell bit other dogs or tried to bite them more than any other dog I’ve ever had.  I always had to be very mindful of him. Small dogs ARE the worst.

A while back there is a case of a lady who is the greeter at a Home Depot who had her face destroyed by a small purse dog when she leaned it to pet it.  That dog wasn’t destroyed but you can bet your bottom dollar had it been a large dog, people would have caused a riot over that.
