I made sure the day I thought it was coming I had on a cute outfit and my hair and makeup done. At about 9 pm, I figured it wasn’t gonna happen and I had tanning lotion on and was jonesin for a shower, so I showered, scrubbed off all of my makeup, threw on a bandana, and ugly camping clothes. Half an hour later… ๐Ÿ™‚

lol I know the feeling. My Bf has had the ring for a month…..but hasn’t proposed yet! We’ve been together for six years, so the suspense is killing me! I’m to the point where I don’t even care what I look like, I just want the damn ring LOL (just kidding). But in all seriousness, I know it will be special whether or not our hair is perfect or if we are wearing pretty clothes. Just knowing our man loves us enough to want to spend his life with us is wonderful enough. Thats my own lil theory on it anyways lol. That being said, I don’t want to look like a total mess when he proposes. I would like to look like myself :-). He fell in love with me the way I am, I fell in love with who he is. That being said, I look forward to calling him my fiance. It feels so much more mature than “boyfriend” lol and denotes a greater commitment (or so I think lol).

hehe I look forward to not carrying my camera with me everywhere “just in case”.

The boyfriend has been told in very strict terms not to propose to me if I am wearing pyjamas! But you know what, I bet he does!

Things I wont miss…

  • Practically carrying around my entire makup collection because I know I’m going to cry and mess up my makeup.
  • Starting at my dream ring online all day.
  • These crazy emotions- one minute I am extremely excited, the next I am depressed.
  • Checking the history on my laptop “because he might have looked at rings on my computer.”
  • Telling people over and over again that “I don’t know when we are getting engaged.”
  • I second CupcakeLove’s *not carrying my camera with me everywhere “just in case”.*

I am sure there are plenty more but I can’t think of them

I won’t miss everyone in my family asking me why we’re not engaged yet! AGH, how the heck are you suppose to answer that question anyways??

I always thought I wanted to look extra pretty for the night it happened, and my then boyfriend knew that too. But he ended up proposing on a night when I was just in jeans and a typical fleece jacket, and at that point, I didn’t care at all what I looked like. ๐Ÿ™‚

I won’t miss getting a little dissapointed every time he asks me what I want to do over the weekend (figuring if he had plans to propose he wouldn’t be asking me what I want to do!)  One of these days I just might respond “go somewhere totally romantic and have you propose to me.  You?”

I won’t miss the crazy mood swings (I can go anywhere from “I love him so much I am so excited he’s looking at rings and wants to marry me!” to “wtf.  What the hell is taking him so goddamn long?  He’s obviously trying to torture me on purpose.” within hours.)

I wasn’t wearing anything fancy…but I did get my hair colored that day so I didn’t look awful!  The mood wings is definitely one, but my big thing that I don’t miss is not having to keep my nails perfectly done!  Not that I leave them to become gross and dirty, but more in a “I won’t have to take ring pics with beautifully painted nails” kind of way haha!

I had 10 hrs of plane grossness on me when he proposed the first night of vaca in mexico… still rocked ๐Ÿ™‚

The big thing I didnt miss once it happened was just the anxiety to get started! like once you know it is coming you just want to get on top of all the plans!

@lezlers: I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Last night I casually mentioned that I might go spend the next weekend at my parent’s house… That is, ahem, unless you had anything planned for the weekend and you want me to stick around….?

Nope. Just “Say hi to your parents for me!!”

Grrrrr….

I’ll add that I don’t miss feeling that twang of jealousy every time one of my friends posts about her engagement on Facebook. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, TOTALLY.  I described it to one of my friends this way:  it’s like I’m sitting in the race car at the start line with my engine idling.  He’s in control of the switch that turns the lights from yellow to green and He. Won’t. Press. The. Switch.

I did NOT miss people asking me when we were going to get engaged!! That is such a rude question I can’t even tell you how frustrated it used to make me.

I also did not miss trying to pretend like I didn’t notice all the plans he was making for our proposal.
