Okay so I’m not engaged yet, but plan on being soon.

This is something my Mum said to me a few years back and I wanted to share after reading some of your hilarious posts.

When I was in my mid thirties I showed a picture of a dress I was lusting after and said “if I get married, I would like to wear a dress like this” and she told me that if you ever get married you’ll be too old and wrinkly to wear a dress like that.

*sigh*

well i could go on for days, but here’s a few off the top of my head:

“i can’t believe you’re taking him away from the city, he loves the city”- when Fiance moved in with me, literally 9 minutes from downtown.

“it is absurd to gain more than 30lbs when pregnant, for any woman”- fmil on if we ever have a baby

“cheese and crackers? that’s all your having at the cocktail hour? you better put that on the invitations so people know they might starve”- fmil on our cocktail hour (keep in mind we are serving dinner DIRECTLY after our 45min cocktail hour)

“wow, a mermaid dress, you probably won’t get that one since you won’t be able to eat until july, you know with your weight (i weigh 140, and i’m 5’8)”- when i was dress shopping

“cupcakes? cupcakes are for children’s birthday parties, not weddings”- when i wanted cupcakes instead of a cake

“what do you mean you’re not having a full mass? your marriage is starting off on the wrong foot”- because we don’t want a full catholic mass, as my family isn’t catholic. it’s not enough that we are getting married in the catholic church, primarily to please fmil.

“what are your sisters names again?”_ fi and i have been dating for 3 years, and she’s met them on several occassions.
