BetchyBride:  I’m sorry I haven’t followed with your other posts, but why don’t you want your original ering anymore?

Ok, well I’m not sure why you suspect another ring is in the offing but why don’t you just wear the one you inherited recently? It was a diamond right?

Sorry – didn’t see your response before I posted. If you love your ring, any ring can be an engagement ring. It certainly is lovely but seriously, why not just use your other one?

Why don’t you wait and see what happens before making decisions of what may or may not happen.

Seems like upgrades are a touchy subject lately… Beware. I would have the original ering onyx stone set in a necklace. Would be gorgeous!!!

Wear it as a right hand ring, or keep it and switch it up on occasion! Options are always nice to have. As a PP suggested, getting it set into a necklace is a good idea as well. I would probably keep it and wear it as a right hand ring, personally. I would hate to part with the original ring that my fiance gave me.

BetchyBride:  Keep the onyx as a RHR? Keep us posted! I’m curious now, lol.

Maybe he got a you a black diamond? Those are so beautiful! It seems like it would stay in line with his personal aesthetic.

BetchyBride:  can you wear the onyx ring as a RHR? Or can it be traded in towards something else like earrings if you aren’t attached to it?

Awesome! Why not have multiple rings? It’s nice to have options 🙂

I totally get why your Fiance would feel that way. My original ering was rarely recognised or acknowledged as an engagement ring because, like yours, it didn’t look at all traditional… I just wear the original one as a RHR.

eveline:  Not to be rude, but they only touchy when you are 20, in debt, and looking to buy 15 thousand dollar ring. I’ve looked at this site a while and have seen you many time say you are in debt. Sorry for English I am German and my English has room for improvement

I would wear the onyx ring as a RHR…it really is a cool ring, but yeah…I wouldn’t ever think it was an e-ring.   Just a word of caution though…try not to get too excited,  I’ve done that in the past were I think I’m getting an awesome piece of jewelry only to be given something “not so romantic” LOL I hope it works out for you though!

It really says a lot that your fiancé is hinting at having a surprise and you assume its an upgrade.. Already. Of all the surprises my husband has planned since we’ve been engaged I’ve never even for a nanosecond thought omghesprobablyupgradingmyengagementring…. That just seems so strange, especially so soon after getting engaged In the first place.

I do hope you’re able to find an engagement ring that’s suitable enough for you (and the people you need to acknowledge it as an engagement ring in order for you) to feel good about though.
