I ended up just buying six bouquets from Walmart and then taking them apart and reworking them.  I don’t know how many stems it was, but I thought they looked great.  And best of all, it was under $100 for six big bouquets, one small one for the jr. bridesmaid, four corsages, and eight bouts.

@GrumpyPumpkin: My advice would definately be to buy more than you think you’ll need because once you have cut the leaves off and prepared them, they’ll look thinner. I bought a couple of bunches of cheap roses from Asda (or Walmart equivalent) and a few choice stems from a florist that I’d put money aside for. Our theme was sort of wild and autumnal, so the bouquets didn’t have to be too perfect. Just as well! I got my bridesmaid to help me put them, and the buttonholes together the day before. It took ages (!) so be sure to give yourself lots of time so you dont’ panic!

It sounds like plenty to me.
