Eloping and very small weddings are different, but I think some use them interchangably, so it’s OK.  You already explained it!  This board is find for both types of weddings – intimate is the key.

Eloping does take planning!  I cannot tell you how any times people are like, “What are you waiting for?  You have nothing to plan!  Just go do it!”

Well there’s the photographer, and I want a good one.  The location will not be in our town so we have to book lodging, plan a road trip around the lodging.  Figure what there is to see in the area since we’ll make a multiday vacation out of it.  Research what a good restauarant would be for a wedding dinner.  Research officiants.  It’s not as easy as some people make it sound!

Nothing to do with your age, but I advocate dating at least 2 years.  It’s wise to see if that wonderful person is still the same wonderful person after seasons, holidays, stresses.  Many people can keep their best foot forward for a year at least.

@Vintagestef

Congrats!

I vote for the elopement/intimate ceremony, especially since your parents and his parents are okay with it.  Im sure you will save a lot of stress and money instead of planning a larger wedding.

Unsolicited Advice: I do agree with Sienna76, that people change over time and its probably “wise” to have a longer engagement.  But at the same time it’s like they say, when you meet the right one you know, and maybe you do know…

So, good luck! I hope everything works out and that you have a beautiful wedding day and wonderful marriage.
