So, today I brought up the subject of eloping to Fiance, and he took it surprisingly well. Very well, in fact. I’m not big on large weddings with lots of people and the whole shebang, and neither is he. Our original wedding date was set for November 23, 2013. Well, now I’ve discussed the possibility of a wedding…this October, on the 6th. It’s our anniversary, and as luck would have it, it’s also on a Saturday. My parents would be okay with it, and so would his parents. I guess it isn’t so much ‘eloping’ as it would be having a very intimate ceremony; as in, immediate family and possibly my grandparents (if they want to come.) As far as the whole wedding gift thing goes, I don’t mind having anything one way or another; sure, it’d help out as we started out, but I don’t like accepting gifts from people anyway, and we don’t exactly NEED anything. I’m sure both sets of parents would probably give us a little gift, and that’s fine by me. (To clarify this, we’ve only been dating 7 months-eek! But I know he’s the one I’m going to spend the rest of my life with, and my parents and his parents are totally okay with things going down so soon. We aren’t rushing for any reason [not pregnant, lol] I just genuinely want to be his wife.) We’d be getting married on our 1 year anniversary. He’s never been married before, and he’s 29, so it isn’t really regarded as ‘odd’ for him….but I’m 18 and I know people are going to assume that I’m pregnant or just completely insane.
I’m NOT looking for advice on whether I seem too ‘young’ to get married; I am just looking for words of encouragement I guess on eloping, since I’ve never considered the possibility until recently…and I love the idea of it, I know I’d have no regrets, since I realize it’s kind of what I’ve been picturing all along for my wedding; I just need advice on whether it takes a certain amount of planning on it’s own, or some good places to look at getting married. I’ve seen one place, another poster put it, and I love it! It’s the location I wanted to get married (TN), http://www.honeysucklehills.com/ but I was trying to look around for other places that offered the same amenities.
Responses appreciated! :))
