I hope this doesn’t fall under self-promotion. I’m not sharing my website or blog address, so hopefully it doesn’t.
I am thinking about moving to a different host for my website. Currently I’m with GoDaddy, but I want to host my blog, and I haven’t heard anything good about their support or about their dashboard.
I was wondering if there are any other bees who have their own websites and blogs, and what service they use to host them? Also, does anyone know how hard it is to transfer websites to a different host?
Thanks!

@Loribeth: I’m a web designer, and I host all my sites and recommend my clients host their sites with Green Geeks. They’re 300% green (totally wind powered) and they have excellent support. Plus, they give you a free domain with certain packages! I think they even help you transfer your site from another host for free.
If you use the following link to sign up with them and enter coupon code Wedding Party25 when you’re checking out, you’ll get $25 off your total : http://tiny.cc/0ip7j
Enjoy! 🙂

I use liquidweb.com. They’re a little on the pricier side, but having had a personal domain for close to 15 years I think that you get what you pay for. They’re helpful, they’re ALWAYS up (never had an issue with downtime), and everything just works.
It’s not hard to transfer, you just need to make a back up of your folders (and your DB if you host one) then you can just drag and drop the folders with your FTP client and do an upload of your DB (again if you have one). Your new host will probably be able to walk you through it if you need more info.

Thank you. I’ve never heard of Liquidweb.com, so I’ll check them out.
