honeyandcupcakes:  wow that ring looks so much better! It’s seriously gorgeous! I usually like emerald cuts in solitaire settings because halos can take away from their stunningly classy cut but your halo compliments it beautifully! So glad you found something you love!

Interested to see other people’s changes! I originally had a four prong setting which I quickly realised I didn’t like. The prongs caught on everything and I was scared I’d chipped my little diamond every time my hand knocked against something. A bezel setting would have been ideal, practically speaking, but I don’t like how they look. I searched long and hard to find a setting that would function like a bezel (not catchy and protects the diamond girdle) but didn’t have the solid band of metal. This was my solution. It was just the setting part I got changed. I’m really happy with how it looks and it’s so comfortable to wear

    OldGold: Thank you!

honeyandcupcakes: Thanks! Yours is beautiful. As you can probably imagine from my own redesign story I could only in my dreams manage with with a spectacular ring like yours. There are so many rings on here that are just breathtaking but are WAY more ring than I could cope with! Doesn’t stop the occasional bit of bling envy though…

honeyandcupcakes:  your ring is gorgeous!  I love emerald cuts.

The YG rings are my original wedder, ering & eternity.  WG ones are the upgrade I just got.  I feel the WG looks much better on my skin tone and I am very happy now that I have changed.

My fiancé proposed with a solitaire because he wasn’t sure what kind of setting I wanted. I got a local jeweler to custom make it and I love it!

honeyandcupcakes:  Your ring is amazing! I’m glad you found an awesome jeweler who could make you the ring of your dreams. I took my diamond from my original solitaire and had it set in a bezel and soldered in the middle of my channel set wedding band. I actually don’t have any good pics of my original solitaire (I really didn’t take many pics back then) but from the top it was similar to the first pic posted below. It was a really cool solitaire though. It wasn’t a cathedral setting in that the head was suspended between the tapered shank and underneath (attached) to the head was a bezel set surprise diamond on either side. So the side profile was the only thing that set it apart from other solitaires, otherwise from the top it just looked typical. Even though it was the most unique solitaire I could find at the jewelry store I worked at, it still wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I knew all along I should have gotten a ring with diamonds on the sides but went with the solitaire because it was a “classic” choice. It was, but it just wasn’t me. I now have a whole stack of rings I love! Congrats on your new gorgeous sparkly!

My Fiance got the round solitaire for me a year ago and we always intended to change to a pear. So this year I got my pear and will eventually find a jeweler to reset it in a bezel setting.

honeyandcupcakes:  Yeah bezels are great! I wanted my ring to look pretty and unique but also to be practical. I’m a very busy wife and mother and my original solitaire would continually catch on things so I knew I wanted something that wouldn’t get in the way. Plus I always loved the look of bezels so it was a no-brainer for me. πŸ™‚

    I had a couple of do-overs….

    original ring, I1,H, .75 center, 1ctw

Upgraded to this 1.02ct,G color VS2,Celebrationdiamond solitaire and diamond and amethyst band stack:stone not square enough for kite setting. I also missed the swirl design my original ring had. We

later traded the stone for a more square 1.09, VS1, G color and upgraded the setting to this:

Finally got it right πŸ™‚ She’s here to stay
