Hi bees, so I’m 31 and Fiance is 32. We want to have a big family so should get started, soon! Many of our close friends had NO problem getting pregnant, but some tried for a year and some are on 1 1/2 years and still trying to get pregnant. We’re all 30-35.
I’m not sure if we should take a shot, so to speak 🙂 on the wedding night or if we should wait a bit before we start trying. How long did it take for you to get pregnant?

I was 34 when we started trying, got pregnant our 2nd try, miscarried and then got pregnant again 5 months later and am now 35 and 8 weeks along (with fingers crossed!). So for us it didn’t take too long. I have two friends, both 33 at the time who got pregnant in the first 4 months of trying each and a friend who is 37 who got pregnant first try.
So for my age group and friends, we’ve all been lucky and had it pretty easy. That said, my sister-in-law is only 30 and she took 2 years to get pregnant when she was only 26 and they have been trying for a long time for #2, so sometimes age isn’t the issue! Getting pregnant really is different for everyone.
Good luck to you!

@futuremrskelsey: Really, there is no way to know how long it could take. It could take you one month, or one year. Everybody is so different. 31 is considered “young” in baby-making, although not as young as in your 20’s. I got pregnant last year one month after going off the pill the week after our honeymoon, but miscarried. I was 32. Found out I had uterine fibroids, had them removed, also had my right fallopian tube removed and we just started ttc again! I’m hoping it won’t take very long, but won’t be surprised if it takes quite awhile, especially since I only have one tube now. But really, you can’t base your own situation off anybody else. Everybody is so different. Many women get pregnant right away, others take a long time and most are in between. (Average is about 6 months, I think?) Just start trying when you are ready. Don’t start trying before being ready, because it could take the 1st month. 🙂
