It’s a modified A Line and it’s gorgeous! The dress I love is also a modified A line, and I thought it was a trumpet for the longest time. They’re really similar.

This is the dress I love right now and plan to try on:

I believe the difference is that it flares a little earlier than a traditional trumpet, but another Bee will probably know better!

A regular a line flares out at the waist, a modified a-line is fitted through the hips then flares out

my dress does the same thing. different stores/designers seem to call it different things, like “modified a line,” “fit to flare,” or “modified mermaid.” aka, fitted through the hip and then flaring out. maybe there’s a difference between the 3, but they seem similar to me? the store i bought this from called it “fit to flare”

Maggie Sottero refers to this style of gown as slim A-line…I know, I had the same question too.

@TingTing – it’s Vera Wang! And out of my budget, which is why I have been scouring the classifieds, Once Wed, and Preowned Wedding Dresses nonstop. I’m still going to go to the Vera Wang store just to try some lovelies on. When else can you do that, right? And at least that way I’ll know how they look on me if one does pop up used.

Holy Jesus that dress is gorgeous. And yes, I would also say it’s a modified A-Line I don’t think the fitted part goes down far enough to be considered a trumpet

I know, right? I mean, her collarbone is just WHOA. And they’re always oh so pale.
