So my cycles are very irregular…so i figured if we have sex every second day for the month, we’d have to hit around the time i ovulate, right? but my question is, are you actually able to fall pregnant at any time of the month? i thought it was only when you are ovulating, but a friend of mine said it is possibe at any time of the month, just less likely….? i also googled it and got mixed answers…. does anyone actually know??? I havent been to the Dr so havent asked her at this point

no you need an egg to get pregnant. however, if you do not track your cycle and are not sure when you are ovulating, then you won’t be sure when exactly you are fertile. i suggest you try temping to get a clearer idea of when you ovulate. even if you are irregular, you can use it to approximately figure out your cycles or what is making you irregular.

You can only get pregnant when you are ovulating, that is true! The reason it is “possible” during any time of the month is that you might have a weird cycle and ovulate a lot earlier or later than normal- and your normal probably isn’t day 14, especially if your cycles are irregular. You can find a lot of info here about tracking ovulation, options for ovulation predictor kits, etc. Good Luck!

Your fertile period is when you can get pregnant, which is about a week long. It is for approx 5 days before ovulation (because the sperm can last inside you for up to that long waiting for the egg) until 2 days after ovulation (because that’s how long the egg could last).
“You can get pregnant at any time of the month” is true in that you don’t know exactly when you ovulate until it has occurred (pretty much), so your fertile period could be any time of the month, but it cannot be ALL month.
