Do OPK results get darker as you get closer to a + or is it kind of all or nothing?
Mine so far – about 6 days worth – have had a non-existent test line. Today I got a much darker test line, but not a +. Wondering if this is just the way it is, or gearing up for a +.

Are you using the Amazon OPKs? I’ve only been using them for 2 months. Last month, it was an obvious positive one day. This month, I noticed it was a dark line, but not quite so dark. The next day it was an obvious positive. So I’m no expert, but maybe the OPK does gear up for a +

@septcabride: usually I have exactly what you’re talking about – no lines for many days, then I’ll get a fade in over the course of a day.
When I was just trying naturally, I’d just test once or twice a day, and count my darkest line as +, and watch for the BBT spike to confirm.
Now that we’re getting medical help, once I get any kind of line, I usually take a test every 3-6 hours to try to pinpoint it better. I use the cheap amazon tests, so it’s no big deal.

I’ve been using the cheap Amazon ones since February, and so far, every month I’ve gotten a gradual darkening, usually starting a day or two before I get a full dark line. Darling Husband and I start getting jiggy with it once I start to getting a visible line (even before we get the full positive), cause, well, why not? And keep doing it until my BBT stays up for three days.

Woo Hoo, then! I am FINALLY getting somewhere.
NB: These cheap amazon tests are a lifesaver. I can’t believe it when I see women who use the CBE ones everyday – they are like $8 apiece!

@septcabride: When I first started using OPKs, I used part of a gift card to Amazon to get the CBE digital ones…the ones that give you a smiley face. I really liked them, because of the happy smiley face, but once they ran out I went for the cheap ones. I can pee all I want with them, and not worry about how much money I’m flushing down the toilet.
