I am on my way to work this morning, and my 45 minute drive has turned into a two hour commute. Everyone on the interstate is pretty much standing still and I am sure running very late. I have now seen two pedestrian motorcycles driving up on the side of the shoulder to bypass traffic. Does this infuriate anyone besides me? I mean, if it was an emergency vehicle or police officer that would be totally different AND I thought that using the shoulders during an accident and somehow against the law, considering emergency personnel may need to use the shoulders. Anyway it is not a big enough deal to call anyone and complain… Just a general annoyance at how some people feel their time is more important than others! I think a cup of coffee once I get to the office will make me forget about these stupid motorcyclist lol.

I’m sorry that your commute sucks this morning, but ummm.. you should probably put your phone away and focus on the road…

The motorcyclist are fine to me for some reason. I can’t stand when people in cars do it. I don’t know why.

@badzipper: I’m sitting in “P” right now, so I’m not actually moving.

Yes it bothers me too and I think it is agains the law as well, but they have to be caught doing it 😀

I hate it when motorcycles do that. We were in standstill traffic once and a whole group of motorcycles were doing that.. and then one car pulled out at an angle into the shoulder to block them from passing.. then another car did it & another.. it was actually really amusing to watch.. the motorcycles got SO mad. They actually all turned around, drove back up the shoulder and went off the exit ramp behind us, and the cars pulled back onto the road properly. It gave us some amusement while we were sitting there at least! Sorry you’re stuck in traffic 🙁

I think it’s annoying when cars do it, but I can see how a motocyclist would actually find it necessary. If you’re in a gridlock traffic and on a motorcycle the exhaust fumes could really make them sick. I’m not saying that it’s ethical or that they *should* do this, but I’ve gotten super sick in a traffic jam from fumes before (it was hot and there was no air conditioning so I couldn’t just roll up the window.)

@pecanpie: I LOVE that they all they did that! That would have totally made my day to see that.

One time my dad was in traffic and was in the left lane… completely stopped and saw a motorcycle coming up from behind on the shoulder (very small shoulder with a jersey barrier next to it…. ) he opened his car door to ‘dump his coffee’ BOY was the motorcyclist mad! He tried to yell at my Dad.. but his response… Sorry I’m not sorry, I had to dump out my cold coffee, and what you were doing is illegal!

I’m from NY, this is just a given when there is traffic–and there always is
Forget motorcycles, cars drive up on the median to zip by everyone else…..

Well now that I am safely back in the office I can report that all 4 lanes were closed and two people had to be life flighted from the accident. So- I hope once they got up to the front of the line they saw how precious life is and that obeying and respecting simple traffic laws should be observed moving forward! I mean, sometimes police cars/ambulances FLY past you on the shoulder, so I would think motorcyclists would be afraid that someone wouldn’t see them or that doing that could potentially cause another accident! Oh well– I just hope those people are ok!
