Yeah, it’s way too much money. I’m also confused why you want heels at all if you’ve had foot surgery. Heels are terrible for you. I’m sure you can find another shoe you like.

Those were the exact same shoes I fell in love with… and, like you, I never thought I’d spend some much on the shoes – but I would a million times over tell you to do it!

That is SO nice of your stepmom and you should definitely get them.

Now, I say all this… with one disclaimer – make sure they fit!  When I went to buy them, I was SO SAD they didn’t fit my foot!  Total disappointment, since I’d gone full spectrum with that shoe!   I ended up with a much cheaper pair of Enzo Angiolini pumps and was very happy with them.

I don’t think I could wear shoes that cost as much as my wedding band

I think the shoes are too expensive (my most expensive pair EVER was $65) but it sounds like your step mom really wants to give them to you.  If you think she’s being genuine and not just feeling like she should help you out, you should absolutely accept the gift.

I know that I personally love to give people gifts that make them happy- and knowing it’s something that you love love love but can’t afford, I would be very happy if I could give it to you, and really disappointed/kind of hurt if you refused the gift.  This only applies if you think she’s genuine though (and from your post it sounds like she really is).

Edited to say: If you do accept her gift and the shoes only end up costing YOU the $25 difference, maybe you can spend the rest of the shoe budget on a little gift for her to show your appreciation- flowers or whatever you think she would like.  My SO always refuses to cash gift checks from his grandmother, but I’m always telling him to cash it, spend half of it on a really nice flower arrangement for her, and everyone wins because she gets to give the gift and receive a sign of his appreciation in return, and he gets her gift as well.  Long winded, sorry!
