@Sasha2011: Why would she not wear them again? They are beautiful shoes that you would wear with dress pants or an evening dress. Hell, I’d wear them with a day dress or skinny jeans and a nice top.
Also, the money has been given specifically for the shoes. It would be highly rude to then spend the money on something else.

@AlliMayWedding: some of comfortable and some are not. You won’t know until you try them on. I also have narrow feet but have never had an issue with choos

Apparently I don’t have a choice in the matter! My stepmom and dad just called my fiance and my dad is meeting my fiance for lunch tomorrow and to give him a check for the shoes! I guess that’s that!
I think I’m in a mild state of shock..
She’ll be getting a super nice gift from me and I’ll be thanking her for months!

Shoes are shoes, don’t care what brand it is!!
$525 for shoes????? Yikes 🙁

@AlliMayWedding: Buy them!!
I’ve never spent that much on a pair of shoes, but I totally would splurge for my wedding – especially if someone else was paying lol.

Take the plunge and splurge! I actually giggled when I read your post topic because I was just about to write a post about the EXACT same thing! And the pair I bought are Jimmy Choo’s as well! They are so beyond super comfortable and believe it or not, I’ve already figured out a bunch of different places/times/events that I want to/can’t wait to wear them to!
I know they’re expensive, but I think they’re worth it and I also think I’m worth the splurge too! I wish my mother/FMIL would have offered to pay for these shoes for me! I would accept her lovely gift (I know my mother would have probably offered to buy them had I been unable to afford them) from someone who obviously cares for you and treat yourself!

As a stepmother, I will tell you that if your stepmom wrote you a check for $500 so that she could pay for your wedding shoes, she actually WANTS to buy them for you. I would graciously accept her extremely generous gift and use it for the specific purpose for which it was intended.

For the wedding definetly get a good pair of shoes if you do not wear heels often. I wear heels everyday in the $250-500 range and I can walk all day wihtout problem. Tried to wear cheaper shoes and I got blisters on my toes and skin rubbed of on the heel! Go for the shoe, you’ll love it!

Its your wedding day you deserve the best!! Get the shoes they are amazing and you deserve them! Your shoes should be extra special on your wedding day!

“You” are not buying the shoes, she is! Think of it this way–if she gave them to you in a wrapped box for Christmas, you wouldn’t go “These are nice, but I’d rather buy a pair from TJ Maxx” You’d freak out and hug her and tell her how amazing she is! She clearly wants to be a part of your big day–let her!
PS- No harm at TJ Maxx shoes– my favorite pair of 6″ Chinese Laundry heels were only $35 there. They have GREAT shoes! Just not $575 Jimmy Choo wedding day shoes great!

@BrandNewBride: Someone that thinks like me! I gave the “wrapped in a box” scenario too. Yay for being great minds. 🙂

As Nike would say (another shoe company, I might add) “just do it”

4″ sounds super high for someone with previous surgery! I ended up custom making my shoes through http://www.milkandhoneyshoes.com/# because I couldn’t find a good height (everything was flat or 5″ and I wanted/needed 3″), and even a custom made shoe was half the price of those Choos….

A gift is a gift. To refuse, would be insulting to your SM. Take the gift and strut those gams proudly!
