Personally, I think it sounds lovely!  And, honestly, unless you all wore long black gowns and had the house banners flying on the ceiling, I doubt anyone would really notice it’s the same set up.  It sounds really unique to me!

The only things to consider are will you have enough space to fit everyone so no one has to sit on the “crack” where two tables are meeting?  And how will you distinguish between tables so people know where they are sitting?

ETA: You could do every other table with alternating linen colors, and have a promient table number as a centerpiece to make it more distinguished between tables (ie. A big 4 on a blue tablecloth, next to a 5 on a white tablecloth).  Just a random idea… ๐Ÿ™‚

I would so have done a Harry Potter theme if my husband wouldn’t have thought I was completely nutzo!

I think you might appreciate this then

Baylor had the Great Hall of Christ Church at Oxford (the HP great hall) in mind when they designed it. (We used it for the “TROLL IN THE DUNGEON” scene for a Movie in a Few Minutes HP version, it was awesome)

So. Jealous.  Seriously, I’m a huge HP nerd, and I think it sounds wonderful!  It’s also completely subtle enough that if you don’t tell people, or they’re not super into HP, they probably wouldn’t notice.  My Fiance would never let me get away with even a subtle HP theme at our wedding…he even nixed my plan to go to Universal for our honeymoon, hah.  Go for it, girl!

If you both are up for it, then you should do it. A lot of people probably wouldn’t even realize it is a nod to Harry Potter. My Fiance and I are geeks and I love Harry Potter, but he doesn’t. I have decided in order to show our geeky side to let Fiance pick comic book action figures for our cake topper. Luckily his favorite Iron Man goes along with our color scheme! I may even try to sneak in some more geeky ideas in the wedding as well.

You are adorable! I had to laugh at the 500 people/Italian restaurant thing as I come from a huge Italian family, too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I *love* your Great Hall idea and think you will have a fabulous time creating such an arrangement. Good gravy, the things you could do! Let the creativity flow and enjoy every second of it. Watch the HP movies for inspiration! We are doing a Renaissance theme: dip into that time period as well for your inspiration.

Love it. I am a huge HP nerd and I think that this theme could be carried out in a totally classy and sophisticated way with an awesome nerdy edge.

We are actually watching Half- Blood prince right now.

But I am the BIGGEST HP fan ever. I seriously write down the differences between the movie and the book and yell at the tv when something doesn’t go the same way (I was a wreck during the seventh movie). But I love the idea. Could possibly never do it, but I still love it!

Good Luck!
