I would try to take them for their word. I know with my job we can only request off at certain times and sometimes it is super easy to get off and others you pretty much have to cell a limb. If you would be comfortable with her being the only photographer then definately ask to see if she would still want to come.

Otherwise take a deep breath and start looking for new photographer. Who knows maybe you will be able to get a good deal with it being close, You definately still have time time find somebody though.

This is the problem with doing business with friends or acquaintances. Because there’s no contract and a big discount, it doesn’t carry the same level of responsibility as when the vendor is a stranger. OP, I’m sorry your to-do list just got longer and more expensive. And to everyone else: sometimes that discount ends up bring more expensive in the long run.

That’s awful! I’m so sorry that happened to you 🙁 I always hate hearing stories like this. But I’m so glad it looks like you might have found someone!

What fishbone said. We picked out a friend as a photog who said she was excited to photgraph our wedding.

She posted on FB 5 times a day but couldn’t check her messages to give me a phone number, mailing address, or even a price on how juch she wanted. Nor did she ever mail me a contract two weeks after I asked her to.

I let her go and found a different photographer. Best decision ever and I recommend you do the same, especially if there is no contract. I would not rely on those people for professionalism at this point.

@fishbone:  This exactly. A friend of a friend offered her services for our wedding for cheap, but ultimately it’s not a good idea.
