- Wedding: October 2013
I went to a wedding out of town over the weekend and brought only 1 dress with me, my black cocktail dress.
I went to put it on and I couldn’t zip it up. My FI worked so hard to help me and he was finally able to latch it at the top and get it zipped up. It was a side zip, I think a back zip would have been no problem. I even took off my bra to give it extra room.
I was uncomfortable all night. Good thing it was his friend’s wedding, though I was still able to dance and eat.
I’ve had this dress for 2 years (a classic dress), and it’s always been a little loose. The first wedding I went to wearing it, I kept pulling it up, so the second time I wore it, I put the straps on it. I did not think I would have a problem this time. Yes, I did gain 3-4 lbs since the last time I wore it, but I didn’t think that would make that big of a difference. Apparently it did.
The next day on the car ride home, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The only explanation I could come up with was the I’ve been serious about weight lifting for the past year and now I am broader. I am definately more muscular.
I am a triathlete and every year I say I am going to do more than just swim, bike, and run, the perpetual cardio queen. This year I finally stuck with it into training season instead of giving up after winter ends. I guess that’s what I get for trying to be more fit.
I’m not worried about my own wedding dress fitting, that’s not til August. When I got measured I had already been 6 or so months into lifting weights.
How do you continue to lift weights and stay fit without getting broader? I don’t want to stop lifting weights.
Anyone experience this? What did you do?
