Sorry, can you explain a little better by using the names or fake names? I don’t really understand. Is his name Philip Philip or something?

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Are you even allowed to do that? When we filled out the marriage license it had a list of rules about how you could change your name. I personally think it would be weird to take his first name. I’d say just keep your name, or take his last name and hope it grows on you.

eta: my maiden last name was a common first name also, it was always weird when people had it as a first name, I couldn’t imagine having my last name the same as my husband’s first name. What name will your kids (if you have them) use?

I think it would be fine if you took his first name as your last, though it much be confusing if you were to have the same health insurance or something. Most likely they would think you both have the last name taylor, as in Amy Taylor and Hiscurrentlonglastname Taylor lol

So like….his name is Taylor Somethingorother and your name would be Happily Taylor?

It might be a little confusing, sure.  Luckily, Taylor is both a first and a last name….imagine his name was something hilarious?  You’re lucky!

Going by your mom’s maiden name is a nice idea, too.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  I’m so curious now!  Is it Johnsondoodle?  Smithapooper?  Matthewsex?  Hehehe….

@Juliepants:  I’m curious too!

OP, I like your idea, but I think it might be kinda confusing in practice. “Hi, I’m Happily Taylor, and this is my husband, Taylor Funnylonglastname.” But if you really want to do it, do it!

Why not just keep your name if you really hate his last name so much?
