I wrote a post before about trying to find a new church and a church to get married in as my old church closed. See here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/my-parish-closed-finding-new-church-and-church-for-ceremony-help#axzz2TZ0s4FM8
Well Bees, I picked one to go see and Fiance and I went to Mass this past Saturday. We really liked it and there were about 3-4 wedding references in the Mass (references to marriage, bride, etc.). I kept nudging Fiance everytime we heard a reference (signs!).
I was a little reluctant to just commit to this particular church without seeing any other church, but deep down I knew it was right. I registered to be a parishioner before we decided it is where we want to get married.
We decided in the past couple of days that we want to go with this church. I called the parish secretary (who has been nothing but nice and welcoming) and she told me to contact the priest directly who we want to marry us (there are 2) to set up a meeting. She also said I could email them!
So I emailed the Monsignor today as Fiance and I would like him to marry us. Nothing against the other priest but the Monsignor is highly respected in the community and does a lot of community events (I researched))
I received an email back that was warm and welcoming to set up an appointment. The Monsignor said he worked in my hometown at the Catholic high school in the 70’s and 80’s, went to my hometown church many times for mass and was good friends with the Monsignor (let’s call him Monsignor A for reference) there.
Bees – I wanted to cry reading that. That’s when I knew – this was all meant to be. Monsignor A was a very loved priest in my family. He baptized my mom (and her 5 brothers and sisters) and married my parents. He helped my dad go through converting to Catholicism. He baptized me and gave me my First Communion. He passed away in the late 90’s and no priest at my hometown church after him could compare.
I quickly emailed Fiance to choose one of the times available for a meeting, there’s is 0 doubt in my mind that this is what is supposed to happen, and I feel so so happy and excited!! I’m not nervous at all now to meet the Monsignor, I can’t wait!
