*apologize beforehand about the large size of the photos
After Fiance proposed, he was so sad that the excitement of planning a proposal was over, and that he’d only be able to do it once – which had me thinking, why does it only need to be once?
Fiance resolved to propose every year, because he loves the romance of it. He hasn’t yet proposed this year, but I thought I’d share pictures of the ring.
When we were first looking at rings, I thought it would be much cheaper for him to use the solitaire from my mother’s engagement ring (which I was already wearing on my right hand, having received it on my 18th birthday). It would have meant a lot to me, but he wanted to buy me a new ring, as a symbol of us (which was very touching).
This was the ring he proposed with:
Almost one year later, he learned a very important lesson: purchasing online is not the safest option. When we were in Asia visiting my family, it was very humid. The way the ring was structured, it trapped a lot of moisture under the ring, and I ended up having a ring of tiny blisters under the ring (twice) that left scars. Eventually I ended just taking the ring off so we could have it re-set in the future.
Yesterday we were looking at rings with a family friend and ended up having my mother’s engagement ring reset.
So that’s this year’s ring (although he needs to borrow it for when he decides to propose again this year).
This is a photo of the diamond re-set, with the original setting (not the original original, the ring has already been re-set once before which is pictured here but I still have the original band)
And a photo of both e-rings together
The original e-ring still means a lot to both of us. Because my mother passed her engagement ring down to me, we had wanted to pass my e-ring onto a future daughter we might have one day. So we’ve decided to keep the setting which was passed down to me, so one day we can have the e-ring and empty setting re-cast into a pendant of our own design for her. ^_^
