Mine was not what I orignally asked for–during the process it evolved into something totally different and into something that I just totally love way more than my original idea.

Started with this image (with a cushion cut instead of the RB):

and ended up with this:

I’d say the one thing that really surprised me at the end was the lack of milgrain.  I was always adamant that the milgrain would stay.  When he called and said “I didn’t do the milgrain” I was pissed and we went in expecting an argument.  But he was right–the milgrain would have totally changed the look of the ring and not in a good way.  It’s perfect the way it is.  I apologized for being bitchy and praised his artistic discretion all over the place.

My engagement ring was custom made. I fell in love with this Tacori ring but the band itself was 5k alone! I told my fiance that I didn’t need the tacori name on the band and was more than happy with a custom made one, plus you could take that money and add it to the diamond! 🙂

My experience may not entirely be the “norm” though. The jewelry worked with my fiance to figure out exactly what the tacori ring looked like considering they only had the pictures on the website. But just our luck, on the day that my fiance went to place the order, a woman had brought her tacori ring in for cleaning, and it just happened to be exact same one. It was totally meant to be.

@globalmargaret:  I don’t think I’d actually seen your set before but it is incredible!!! I don’t usually like rings that are “different” but yours is absolutely gorgous!!
