Hi ladies 🙂
Well, my partner and I moved interstate last year & found a beautiful place near where we live to get married. So we planned it all and are getting married in 3 weeks!
We originally only wanted close family and friends, we both didnt want a big wedding & also knew as most lived back where we are from, many wouldnt come anyway. So we invited about 50 people all up, expecting about 40 to say yes.
After finally getting rsvps, we’re down to about 20!!! So many pulled out, even after saying yes originally, due to the big expence (we are quite remote so it is costly).. my brother and sister cant even come due to money and now my partners sister has pulled out as she is pregnant & just been put on bed rest as its high risk.
We knew that this might happen going into it.. but we (well I) am shocked so few are coming. It sounds selfish but I honestly thought more would make the effort. Even one of my bridesmaids pulled out. I cant be mad at them as I do understand the issue but I just feel a little crappy about it & that we should just cancel and elope! (unfortuantly too late now)
my questions is, those who have had or are having very small weddings.. how was it or how do you envision it? I just feel a littly silly having a wedding for such a small amount of people, and I really put a lot into the reception – so its just going to look bare and weird!
I’m grateful for those who are coming but I just feel like we’ve now gone overboard for such a small wedding 🙁
