Other than the Bee, no one has ever commented on my CZ rings except to say ‘Oh, how pretty!’ and it seems kind of rude to launch into a description of WHAT it was or WHY we chose it when we did…so I usually just reply with ‘Oh thank you!’ I never said it was a diamond, nor did anyone else, they merely commented on the ring itself being pretty. One person (a very judgemental and negative person I no longer associate with) asked me to take off my CZ engagement ring so she could see it (and compare it to hers, she had to have the best of everything). She really studied it and held it up to the light, which I found to be completely rude, to be honest, but I didn’t volunteer anything other than ‘Thank you, I sure do love it!’ and if she knew what it was she never said either.
On the flip side, my sister worked in a jewelry store when she got engaged and her diamond is huge compared to what is normal around here. She gets a LOT of compliments on it and comments about the size, and she volunteers to everyone that she got a huge deal and only got it because she worked there, etc.

No one ask so I don’t tell. Nor do I plan to. Just like if someone ask me how’s my day going I never say “shitty because I have cramps” even if it’s true. I just say “fine” or “great, thanks for asking. How’s yours so far?”.

I’ve had one person ask (FI’s 9 year old sister) if my ring was a diamond, but it was genuine curiosity. I feel like it’d be a bit rude to ask someone if they had a diamond. I’d be cool with someone asking what kind of stone it is, because then I’d assume they’re interested in lots of stones, like I am. To ask specifically if something is a diamond seems like they’re checking to make sure its “legitimate” LOL but then it comes down to tone and relationship too. I happily explained to FI’s sis what a moissanite is, while her parents listened. My mum also knows, as does my best friend but I haven’t discussed my ring in depth with anyone else.

@Andyboots: I have been wearing Moissy for 7 years and not a single person has ever asked. I can’t imagine anyone ever being that rude.
