I got engaged on December 25th, 2012, a christmas proposal! It was very sweet and thoghtful (not like a tacky lifetime movie, I promise) I’ve been searching around for fun and thoughtful ideas to give the future hubby on our wedding day, which is a year an a half away. I decided on an engagement journal, full of future plans, love notes, inspirations, and really anything that comes to mind. I’m adding pictures, movie ticket stubs or other small items from our dates up until the wedding. I bought a beautiful leather bound journal at barns and noble and have already written a few posts.
I think this is a great idea to remember the time we spend as we get ready for our big day, and it will be something we’ll both be able to look back on and remember. I just wanted to share this idea with everyone, because I think its truly beautiful and practical. I started so early because I know there will be periods of the engagement where I am too busy (I’m a full time College student taking maximum credits, and I have a full time campus job) or just forget to write in it, so this gives me time to fizzle and be reinvigorated to write several times! haha
Do you have any other ideas for thoughtfull groom gifts throughout the engagement or for the big day? I’d love to hear about them!
Keep buzzing, bees! 🙂

@Kelshock: I just did a boudoir shoot for my FI’s wedding gift. I’m making it into a scrapbook, with a love letter written throughout the pages. I’m also giving a pair of socks for “cold feet” with a custom label I made (I got the idea from Mrs. Fox I think here on WB), along with cufflinks I made for him (with typewritter keys since we met online).

I love the scrapbook idea. I’ll have to look into a photo shoot too, and I’ve seen the cold feel socks on WB and Pinterest, so cute!

I’m planning on a first edition copy of one of his favourite books. Mainly because I always give him books for christmas and birthdays, and once I said ‘I should really start thinking of different presents to give you’ and he said ‘don’t ever stop giving me books!’.
We’re also having our wedding reception at a bookshop so it fits well. So I guess just think about what he normally likes getting from you, and take it up a notch for the wedding!
