foundlove25 :  I second the recommendation for Pricescope. There is a very active community of diamond enthusiasts there who will go out of their way to assist you. Just start a thread on the boards there and tell them your budget and diamond criteria.

Here’s a 0.5 ct marquise on a size 5. It has a small bow tie but I really really have to be looking for it to see it. This was a ring that belonged to my mom made up of my grandmother’s diamonds

And my new 0.3 ct round, GIA XXX

I firmly believe in getting what you can afford and with your FF’s finger size a smaller diamond will look great! Here is a .75ct on a size 6 finger, I definitely look engaged and married smile I think

My center stone is 0.7 ct and my size is 4.75, so I think half a carat is going to look lovely on your fiance. Best of luck! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

With that budget, you’ll have a hard time finding a good quality diamond above .5ct in a brick and mortar store. As some PP’s have mentioned, with your budget I might look into online retailers and/or lab diamonds or Moissanite.

This is my .60ct center diamond (.81ct total) on a size 5 finger, I think the size is beautiful on a smaller finger! Plus the “finger coverage” is similar to a 1ct on a size 7 finger (average size). However, due to my diamond’s excellent cut and color it would be over your budget- my husband purchased it from a jewelry store in person.

Lastly, please don’t feel bad about not being able to afford more, your future fiancé will love whatever you get her because it will be from you and will mean you’re both taking an exciting new step in your relationship!

You could get a 3/4 carat for a similar price as that, plus since her fingers are small like mine, a 3/4 may look close to a full carat. I just picked my ring in January and it is a 0.70 carat and my finger size is 4.5. I don’t have it yet but I briefly saw a photo of it after it was done (he won’t show me of course) and although the photo was blurry (he probably did it on purpose lol) it looked bigger than I thought. So a 3/4 on her will be great. Half carat will be good as well due to finger size and may look larger.

foundlove25 :  Have you considered Moissanite? Moissanite is gaining in popularity. I got to see some in person the other day, and I was amazed at their beauty. I have a diamond, but I would have loved a Moissanite just as much if that worked better for my fiancé’s budget. If she’s an environmentally concious type, she may love them too. You can proably find at least a full carat plus a wedding band within your budget.

On that size finger a half carat would look nice, and you could probably go a bit bigger with your budget. Poke around on Blue Nile and play around with the different sizes, colors and clarity grades. Here is my .75 H color SI2 on a 5.5 finger. The diamond itself was right around $2000, so if you go a bit smaller or get an I or J color you should be able to fit your budget even with the setting included. Good luck!

foundlove25 :  We had a small budget as well. No worries. My centre stone is 1/4 carat and my ring size is 6. It also has side baguette diamonds, which I love. They really give the ring that timeless classic feel and elevate it. Let me tell ya, it is a proper engagement ring. I love my man for getting me this beautiful ring and I wear it proudly <3

I stare at it all the time. My DH once joked that I look at it like Golem and went as far as to imitate him by voicing the “my preeecious” line, lol!

foundlove25 :  please don’t feel bad, a 1/2 carat is a great ring! Especially on such a small finger ๐Ÿ˜‰

She is saying yes to the man (or woman), not the ring ๐Ÿ™‚

foundlove25 :  Check out diamonds on ID Jewelry.. their prices are the best I’ve found online. Way under James Allen too. You can easily get a beautiful VS diamond at .75 carat I bet for under $2000..

foundlove25 :  Nothing wrong with a .5 carat diamond, but if you really want to get your future fiancee something around 1 carat for around 2k, you can, especially if you are open to lab diamonds.

Are you guys open to lab created diamonds? They have the exact same properties and sparkle as mined diamonds…they are diamonds, just made in a lab. I found some .90 and .91 carat diamonds on brilliant earth that are under 2k. Two are VS2 and the other is VS1. All are H color and ideal cut, which should face up white especially with yellow or rose gold.

Pair one of these with a classic rose or yellow gold solitaire ring, and you’ll come in at just over 2k with a 1 carat diamond look.
