So, we’ve been going rounds about the favors for our wedding. He keeps on bringing ideas up, and his family seems really into wanting something from the wedding (I cringe at items with our name/date)- where I veiw it as something the guests are going to trash (we can’t spend a fortune on favors) or be used right up (if it can be eaten) and therefore view that $ as a waste when we have such a tight budget already! What I really want to do is mail what I’m viewing as the “favor” after the wedding along with thank-yous. Here’s why- We are having a photographer with a photobooth set up and we will have each guest get their photo done because WE plan on using them as our “guest book”, but then I’d like to make second copies of the photos and then mail them out with the thank you. What do you all think???

First let me say: guests are weird about ‘momento’s’ from the wedding. I was shocked that everyone wanted to take our table numbers (they were framed pictures of us with the table number as part of the picture). My mom wanted to take the picture and I told her not to (figuring I could just reprint her the picture) and she was so upset she didn’t get ‘her’ table number. AYE!
Are you printing any of the photos at the wedding? Or will all printing be done after the fact?
I really like the idea of sending them copies of the pictures, however, I also feel if his family expressed interest in some sort of favor, it would be important to have some at the wedding. I wouldn’t consider a picture a wedding favor – I’d consider it part of your thank you.

I would have something small st least… maybe some small silk bags or small jars filled with candies such as jordan almonds or italian cookies. i went to a wedding where they gave candied apples nd another where they gave chocolate bars with custom labels. there was another where they stamped their monogram on a plain, white chinese food ‘to-go’ container and put a cupcake/piece of cake in it (of course you could put something much better in there.) you could do personalized glassware, wine glass charms, candles, photocubes. you really don’t have to spend much. just have fun and get creative!
i might just send those photos out with your thankyou cards.
