I’m thinking about doing a portrait shoot while on our honeymoon. We didn’t get engagement photos done, and I started thinking it’d be really gorgeous to take some photos on the beach/ocean while on our honeymoon. Maybe I’d even wear my wedding dress? But I don’t know if that would be odd. Has anyone done this or thought about doing this? I think the images would be gorgeous, and it’d be so fun to do, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the money or what we’d really “do” with the photos since it’s not from the actual wedding day.

Personally I think it’s a bit narcicisstic to have a photo shoot just after having your photo taken all day at your wedding, and I’d raise an eyebrow at a friend or family member who did this. Most folks are quite content with photos from their phone or a decent DSLR if they’re photo hobbyists. But different strokes for different folks!

Quite common actually, if you google “vacation photographer” or “holiday photographer” you may find photographers in the area where your honeymoon will be who you can hire for sessions of 1-3 hours, usually.

deep down i would love to bring our wedding photog on our honeymoon because we will be in such beautiful areas, but for the amount of money to us it’s not plausable.
Hubby has a wonderful dslr camera and I got him a timelapse attachment thing for it a couple years ago. I don’t know much about cameras but this attachment has a remote that we can click and have it take our pic when the camera is far away on a tripod or just use the timer on it. We plan on bringing it to get some beautiful shots of us while we are on our honeymoon.

Horseradish: Well, it’s more about the location…being on a tropical beach. I’m not sure if I’d feel comfortable asking a stranger to take our photo

Nothing wrong with this! We saw lots of couples doing this on their vacation.

We got photos done on our honeymoon. The resort has a photographer in the lobby offering their services. It was more like an engagement photo session rather than wedding day photos. I didn’t want some crappy pictures taken by random people who we would’ve had to bother to ask. I’m so glad we got professional photos taken. We didn’t take it too seriously. I wore a nice sundress & he wore shorts and a polo and we took some pics around the resort & by the beach. I love having those photos to look back on.

Lots of couples at our honeymoon resort had a photo session on the beach! I think if you wanted to put on your dress again, the only way that wouldnt look a bit over the top is if you did a trash the dress session. But I dont see anythign wrong with a shoot at the beach. would make for some great photos!

This sounds like a nice idea, especially if you didn’t get engagement photos done! I say go for it. Maybe not in your dress, because you’ll already have so many pictures with you in your dress so why not mix it up?
