If you’re going by the Bible (which I presume you should be going by as a Christian), there is no way that watching porn can be justified. While this doesnt answer your question, I dont understand for the life of me how (whether you are a conservative or liberal Christian – whatever that means) the type of Christian you are or the type of church you grow up in has anything to do with it.

sarahtaylor:  Thank for your reply.  So, more ethical or at least thoughtful pornography?  I wasn’t expecting this.  I salute your thoughtfulness in this regard.

I still don’t agree with pornography but I’m  glad you have some scruples.

Supersleuth:  Did you read what I wrote or just spew the same thing at me?

Part of debate is listening to the other person. Since you don’t want to do that, I’m not inclined to discuss this with you further.

We make an effort to make sex work POSTIVE and EMPOWERING. Sex work will ALWAYS exists and it always has (how do you think “World’s oldest profession” got coined?). Ignoring it / refusing to particpate in it isn’t going to change much. It’s kind of like preaching abistenance only education. It might sound good, in theory, to you, but it’s ultimately not practical or effective.

sarahtaylor:

Hi Sarah,

I can only respond to what you tell me.

I did listen to what you said and it did make me think but I only had information from your first two posts and not your third post.

We are on a topic here which does bring out strong views, especially on a Christian board..

Your contribution was very interesting and only dealt with one area of my concerns.  But, as you know, I have other concerns too.

My apologies for offending you.  I hope that you can continue to contribute to the discussion.

I am going to be difficult to persuade, of course.  I am a Christian and a mother of a daughter and I don’t see pornography films as a good career choice for her or anyone else’s daughters (or indeed sons). But it doesn’t mean we can’t have a conversation or agreement on some issues.

Supersleuth:  Thank you for answering. I can certainly admit there are some points that we do agree with on. I’m always willing to listen to another point of view.

bklynbridetobe:  Thank you for your reply.  I’m sure that we could find lots of points to agree on too!
