So even though I still have a few weeks before baby is due I thought I’d go ahead and take the time I have to make one!
I know I do want the traditional blue or pink so I went with the colors we’ve chosen for our nursery/kiddos room: grey, white, & red
I have one for both a boy & a girl.. same colors & set up but different fonts. Since we already have DS I really want one that I can have more of a whole family announcement so I have spots for a family pic, baby & brother pic, & 2 baby pics.
(sorry for the huge pic…)

Just a thought … it might be difficult to find 4 great pics, all of the same orientation. I know you are trying to get ahead, but it is usually best when doing photo layout products to start with the pictures that you want to use, because the orientation of the pictures will determine how the product can be layed out.

@Ms Mini: I did actually think about that! That’s what I’ve always done in the past, but I also didn’t make an announcement until after I had pics & the theme the parent wanted. I figured I’d take pics specifically for this & then if that didn’t work I’d do something else. Still with the same concept of family, brother, & baby pics.

hehe I did the same thing as well. I have our BA all set up already. 🙂
I like the idea of the different assortment of pictures. But I agree with a PP that it might be difficult to get that perfect pic in that orientation and size. Unless you’re willing to snap snap snap to get that perfect pic in those dimensions.
My only comment is it seems a little cluttered? But then I tend to like things simple and modern. Would you be OK with eliminating the vertical striping portion? Also are you sending this out to print? How will you get the gray background? Are you using gray paper or printing gray on white?

Love the colors! I agree with what PP said about it maybe being too much all on one page. What dimension of sheet were you going to use? I’d rather see two good (larger size) pictures of the new baby than four tiny ones! Nice job though!

I totally forgot about my post! lol
The announcements are 3×7 but the full size I have no problem changing… so I can easily change the dimensions of the pics needed.
@regberadaisy: I took out the red & grey lines & it looked weird being just white… I might try a lighter grey.
@CEtoSAHM: thanks! It’ll acutally only be 1-2 picture of baby’s face, toes, etc… 1 of all of us together, and 1 of DS holding baby. Since we already have DS and this baby will be DH’s and my first together I REALLY want to include all of us rather than just the baby.

@runsyellowlites: I really like the announcement you’ve picked out and also love the idea of including the whole family to make it one unit! The only suggestion I could make would be to have the biggest picture be of the baby. I know when I receive birth announcements, I want to actually see the baby – not that I don’t want to see the whole family, but I know what everyone else looks like and I really want to see the bub!
Is there any way you could change the layout just slightly to accomodate this? Maybe put the baby picture in the upper lefthand corner; then with the remaining half of the upper half of the card, divide that part into half (which would be quarters) vertically and put the ‘we welcome with love’ in the middle box and a picture of the family in the upper right hand corner? It would still allow for a bigger family picture but it would put the focus on the new baby and give everyone a chance to see an up close photo of the baby.
Just a suggestion – I also think what you have is great though!

@Ree723: I didn’t really understand what you suggested (my brain just wasn’t totally seeing it.. lol), but I did make some changes to make the pic of baby bigger… still keeping the family pic the main pic.
Something kinda like this?
Of course the light grey boxes will be pics…

@runsyellowlites: Exactly what I was talking about (the only difference is I suggested putting the baby pic on the upper left side and the family on the upper right side, but it looks good how you have it). I know my suggestion wasn’t very clear but I’m not computer savvy enough to actually put what I was talking about into a picture format! What you’ve done looks fantastic – the baby pic is bigger and you still have all of the other family pics you wanted. Definitely a winner!

I like this version much more too!

@runsyellowlites: I love the idea of DS & new baby together but also: Just wanted to say I think the priority you are putting on the entire family photo is wonderful! Being that it is DH’s first, I think a full family picture is very thoughtful 🙂 Aw, all 1 big happy family!
*also: I like 2nd version better because of the larger baby pic
