Hi ladies! New member here, tentatively an LA bride, though I’m also looking around at OC venues.
I’m wondering if anyone has any experiences with the Redondo Beach Historic Library. I’ve found a few reviews on it, but more information is always better. I really liked it when I visited and am seriously considering it. Any good or bad experiences, or thoughts otherwise worth sharing, would be helpful. With this place my primary concerns are capacity (they say they can do up to 300…I’m a bit skeptical…anyone been at a wedding there with 200+ guests, and how did it work out?), the valet parking situation, and the DJ they include. But anything else you think is worth sharing or commenting on will be appreciated!
I’ve also looked at the Reef in Long Beach (and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, since I’m not really into restaurant venues in general). If anyone has experiences or opinions to share, I’d appreciate it.
I’d also be interested in learning about any fun, quirky or unique venues I might have missed out on in my search. I’m thinking museums, historic venues, off the beaten path, etc. – but it has to accommodate 225-250 people, and alcohol/music-friendly is a must.

I’m getting married at the reef but I didn’t really look at any other venue. My FH and I went to lunch there one day and fell in love with the view. He proposed that day!
The staff has been very nice, and they are willing to work within a set budget, but they can really get you on the extras. They have many vendors that they use often which makes it pretty easy to do the planning. They do a lot of weddings, but every time I’ve been in (only 4-5 times) I felt like they remember me and my individual wedding. There are a lot of reviews from brides after their weddings, search the names of the venues you like. Most of the reviews I’ve read were good, great customer service. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks, Miss craftybee! It did seem like the staff at the Reef were helpful and willing to work with me to accommodate a budget. I like that their packages include so much, and it seems like a great value for the cost.
I wasn’t able to see the bridal room when I checked out the venue, because they were getting ready for a wedding and it was in use. Anything you can tell me about that, if you’ve seen it? The rep who was showing me around said it’s a pretty decent size…
Where do you plan to take your photos that day? It looked like there was a small park nearby but I don’t know much about it. Otherwise I guess you’d just have to take photos around the restaurant property, unless you were going to drive to a nearby location like the lighthouse or the Queen Mary?

I didn’t know about the bridal room LOL We will be staying at the Maya Hotel, they were great to with everything and we may even have an after party there, because our wedding is going to be a saturday afternoon. We took our engagement photos along that road and walke up and down the coast and over to the Maya, wich has a great waterfall. I’ve seen wedding photos there but we will probably take our on the sun deck on the roof where the ceremony will be.
Oh also, the rep from the maya said that the’re working on a shuttle boat that will go from there to shoreline village, where the lighthouse is. She said it should be done this summer but for sure by my January wedding. Great option to take a ride for the rehersal dinner. I just thought about that LOL I have to look into it now. I’d be happy to share all of my reasearch with you, it’s nice to have a bride here with the same venue 🙂
