babeba:  I agree with you that some of the galleries are reduced to body parts but I don’t think it’s promoting unhealthy body images.

Most are just really attractive in shape women. Some are just galleries of women in the gym. So I don’t see the unhealthy piece.

I only go on for “cat Saturday”. I’m not sure if Darling Husband does. If he did, it wouldn’t bother me.

OP – it doesn’t matter what we think though. If it bothers you, you must decide if that’s a deal breaker.

vericari:  I guess that part that would personally bother me most is that he does it multiple times a day. All guys are going to look at girls, it’s their nature, but multiple times a day seems like a problem. I agree with a PP. Sit him down and tell him from the heart that it hurts you that it’s that much. And not when you’ve caught him doing it. The convo needs to be relaxed on not at a time when you are crying or angry, know what I mean?

MrsYokiman:  Same here, though I do like chives on my potatoes. I’ve never heard of this site –  I feel very out of touch!

I had the Chive app on my phone for awhile, but only looked at certain categories or stories. I am pretty sure Darling Husband doesn’t look at it, or at least to my knowledge but know of many other guy sthat do – and some girls even. It would probably bother me if Darling Husband checked it out multiple times a day, and mainly went to the pages where girls were naked or showed certain parts. I used to never gat jealous, but some insecurities in relationships have come out after I was cheated on and not treated well – and unfortunately has stayed with me.

You get what you want out of that website and to each their own. However, I do have a friend who somehow gets her pic on the site every once in awhile (no clue how), and people will post it to her FB wall to show her and she seems proud about it. It’s usually her in a short dress, or a pic from a night out at the bar. Again, no clue how they get there. BUT, she is the type of person that feeds on attention (and is gorgeous), which is why I don’t think it bothers her that her picture is there. Im myself, would not be comfortable with that.

Kacie209:  you can submit pictures thru the website. I have a friend that is on there pretty often also. She is gorgeous and she lifts weights. So it’s mostly workout pics.

Unrelated, but I was watching Catfish on MTV the other day, and they kept referencing all these apps and chat programs and other stuff with weird names that I had never heard of, and I suddenly felt SO OLD.

My Fiance is the same way about the chive and it REALLY bothers me. First off, I don’t like to know when he’s looking at porn and yes, the chive is soft core porn (this is how a guy described it to me, not my own assessment). Second off, the website promotes an unhealthy body image with their asinine “thigh gap” galleries and “bikini bridge” galleries and such. I used to get really mad at him, but now I just try to ignore him and I roll my eyes when he buys shirts etc. I won’t even look at Cat Saturday which he texts me basically every Saturday. I just tell him I’m not looking because I don’t support that website. He has bought me a few shirts from the chive and I tell him everytime it’s not a gift because he bought it knowing it wasn’t something I’d like. He bought a me a shirt once that said “mind the gap.” I didnt know what it meant and Tried it on. When he told me what it meant I ripped the shirt off and threw it on the floor and absolutely refused to put it back on or even pick it Up. Haha. And gave him a looonnggggg lecture on respecting women and healthy body image and etc etc etc. I was so furious.

ClaudiaKishi:  agree! I even tell my sweet fiancé he looks like a giant douche when he puts on a chive shirt. Right or wrong, I immediatly label anyone with “keep calm chive on”  anywhere on their body/ car/ instagram profile as a big tool.

MrsFiveOh:  I second this.  Chive = tools.  My SO looks at it sometimes, whatever,  My ex was obsessed with it, bought shirts, had it as his phone and desktop background… and he was pretty much a tool.  He would high five someone who walked by with a Chive shirt on, lol.  My eyes would hurt from rolling them in his general direction.

I think they call the girls “Chivettes” … more eyerolling.

My SO frequents Chive everyday and I don’t have a problem with it. I actually enjoy their facts sections and funny pictures.

However, every relationship is different. When I was 17-19, porn and pictures of girls like that would bother me. Now that I’m older and I have better self esteem and confidence, it doesn’t bother me at all.

The Chive is really awesome at its best, and really awful at its worst.  At their best, they really can rally people around a cause and have donated tons of money to individuals in dire straights. Check out some of their stories about individuals that the Chive community raised thousands of dollars for: https://chivecharities.org/stories

But then, at its worst you get stuff like this: http://www.people.com/article/the-chive-anorexic-woman-photo-weight-loss
