Hi bees! I could really use your help on a dress dilemma.
I tried on a wedding dress (the Mori Lee Maribella) and absolutely fell in love with it. I was grinning as I tried it on and (very surprisingly!) felt really emotional in it! I tried it on with my bridesmaid who said she loved it too.
Since then I went wedding dress shopping a few more timess with my mom but couldn’t get this one out of my head. I found two other tafetta/satin a-lines that I liked, but none gave me that same feeling. However, when I showed my mom the pictures of the first dress she thought it wasn’t as flattering as the others (saying it makes me look bigger) and that some other family members might think it was too revealing. I’d really like your honest opinions on dress 1, as well as whether you prefer dress 2 or 3 over it. (I would size dress 1 up if I got it which I know might change the fit)
Feeling quite vulnerable to upload these pictures as my body has changed a LOT in the last year due to serious illness and treatment that made me gain quite a lot of weight and I do want a dress that makes me look my best, but at the same time I am learning to accept my changed body and don’t feel I need to hide it.
Thanks all 🙂
This is dress 1
(adding lots of angles so you can see if its too revealing!)

You go today, right now if possible, and buy that first dress!

Umm dress #1 looks AMAZING on you! If anything I think it’s more flattering than the others! Also, not too revealing at all. A little cleavage is no big deal. If it made you that emotional, don’t let anyone steer you away from it.

That smile on your face in the mirror picture says it all. Dress 1 is your dress!!!

Dress 1 is perfect, I absolutely think you look wonderful in it. Its a little glitzy but, still simple and stunning.

Gahhh, I don’t know. I love all of the three dresses, and I get why you love dress 1 the most, but just based on the photos, I slightly prefer the other two dresses.
It might just be the angle of the photos being more flattering and I’m just imagining it, but dresses 2 and 3 look like they’re sitting so the waistline is slightly lower on you, and I think the lower waistline makes your waist look smaller (it does for most people). The wider necklines of dresses 2 and 3 also help make you look smaller, I think. I don’t have much of a waist myself and I know that wider necklines, like off the shoulder necklines, can help a lot with that.
But then again it could also be fixed with alterations and in a larger size dress 1 will be perfect. It certainly is a stunning dress and it’s not like you look super bad in it or anything.

I like the first dress the best. They’re all similar, but I don’t like the neckline on the second dress. It’s less flattering IMO. I do like the third but since you really liked the first, that’s what I’d go it. It’s not too revealing at all.

I’m not loving any of them really but think number 2 is most flattering, my husband also picked dress 2.

Looks so good on you. So classic and flattering.

Dress 1 is the best but I’d see about getting it fitted under bust— it isn’t giving your body definition there the way 2 does.
Side note you didn’t ask for: If you’re not super excited about any of them, I personally would consider a different fabric as that much satin is going to be heavy to haul around all night.

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate your thoughts! I’m really trying to work on it but I feel very self conscious about my figure at the moment, and your comments have really helped 🙂
@skunktastic, will definitely look into getting it fitted under the bust. The dress was actually too big on the waist for me and then quite a bit too small on the bottom, so I’d definitely want to get it tailored to fit better. But I am super excited about dress one (which was the problem when I thought it would have to be a head over heart decision!). I tried on lots of lace and chiffon dresses, but just really loved the way this fabric looks and hangs, even though it was the opposite of what I thought I would want before trying things on!
It’s really good to hear people don’t feel the bust and back are too revealing!
I so appreciate all the different comments, but seeing that people liked dress 1 made me grin and feel so excited that I might have found my dress!

#1! It is figure flattering, elegant with a fun pop on the back. – Has my vote!
#2 is okay, the top feels like it broadens your shoulders too much, and #3 doesn’t really do anything for you.
