So, this is my Engagement Ring:
It’s the ring Future Father-In-Law proposed to Future Mother-In-Law with. Round center stone, some baguettes on that top point, yellow gold. She soldered her wedding band to it (they were a matched set) and it was passed to Fiance for the purpose of giving to me when they upgraded for their 20th anniversary.
Now, when I was given it, Fiance said that since it had the band already attached, I could choose whether or not I wanted to get another band of my own to wear with it. Of course I want my own band! The problem is the shape of the ring is unusual and, while I love that about it, I don’t love how hard it’s been trying to find a band to go with it. Everything I’ve tried so far leaves a gap. Some sets look good with a gap. Not mine.
Anyways, the other day, I found one that actually fits my ring! I’m looking for opinions because I can’t tell if I love it because it fits or because it actually looks good.
NOTE: The enhancer would be considered my wedding band. I’m not going through the work of matching it all over again for some added sparkle.
It was a little crooked when I put it on, but that was a placement/sizing issue, not a fit issue. Also, ignore the swollen finger, I think my ring needs to be resized again.
Fiance is out of state at the moment, so he hasn’t seen it. I sent him the pics, but no response yet. I showed him the stock photo a few days ago and he was worried the enhancer would overpower the original ring and drown it out. He wants his mama’s ring to still be the focal point. Do you think the enhancer…enhances the original, or is it too distracting?
Also, if you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them. I will say that I would like the band to have diamonds or some other stone on it, though. I don’t intend to solder the pieces together either. We’d like to be able to pass down the original set to the next generation when the time comes and I’d just get something new to match it.
