Regular bee here going anon.
I had a trial today and want your thoughts. I fell in love with a company that does bridal make up including airbrush, but they charge $215 for the bride.
I decided to try someone who was suggested to my mom. She charges about $40 but does not do airbrush and I have to provide my own foundation and mascara.
She just used cheap drugstore foundation today because that’s all I had. Also I know my eyebrows are awful so don’t hold that against her lol.
Here is my inspo pic:
Here is before and after:
And here is a pic from the expensive company’s website

I think you look amazing. The lip color isn’t quite right (I think you want something more red) but your eyes look great, as does your skin. I think you found the right artist!

She did a nice job. Your eyebrows look quite good actually! You don’t like them? She needs to do more undereye work but other than that, I’d say well worth her meager fee!

You look great!! If anything, I’d say do a little more work with highlighting & use bronzer.

It looks good. You just need to clean your eyebrows up, as you know, but the makeup on them is perfect, and you need a lighter good under eye coverup so your pretty eyes pop.

You look amazing! You have like model bone structure to begin with, but it still looks like you only better.

Thanks bees! Any suggestions on products I should buy?

emw93 : Wow bee you’re really beautiful! I think the cheaper makeup artist did a phenomenal job. My only recommendation now is to get yourself a good quality foundation (you have some time to see what works best on you so pick up samples at Sephora) and some fake lashes and a good mascara (I LOVE Too Faced Better than Sex mascara).
ETA: For foundation I’ve recently been using and loving Too Faced Born This Way because it provides full coverage and is buildable. It also doesn’t oxidize on me and I have pretty fair skin.

Bumping for more feedback since it’s all been pretty positive so far. I’m considering still having an airbrush trial done just to be sure.

I think you are quite beautiful, but I might try another trial with a different MUA. You are going to look great regardless of who you use, as you have beautiful coloring an bone structure, but I’d be a little concerned about things such as the under eye concealer (it looks kind of caked/not blended??); the uneven shading on your forehead (could be my computer monitor or the pic); and the blush. I know you’ve mentioned already that you are going to clean up the brow area (but, you have fabulous brows!) and swap out the lip color, which I think would be good choices.
While you look great, it wouldn’t hurt to have another trial with someone different if you are unsure.

Yes, ask the more expensive artist for a trial if you’re actually considering paying her rate… But definitely tip her for the trial if you don’t book her. The $40 artist did a great job but you can easily spend well over $200 on buying your own products! Good foundation will be around $30-$40, mascara $20, lashes $5-20, lipstick $20, concealer $30, and so on…
Thr products she used in your trial look good, but will you be tempted to upgrade your entire collection to make sure everything is flawless? I’m sure many bees will get on my case that drugstore products can be just as good as more expensive brands, but in my experience there isn’t much comparison for coverage, longevity, color payoff, etc.
Just my thoughts!

emw93 : ummmmm check out my post to see what happens when you get a jacked up inexpensive MUA lol.
Your photos look awesome I think your MUA did an awesome job but do another trial- it’s worth it. I’m super bummed about my trial it’s not worth being disappointed on your big day!

The cheaper mua did a fine job and you look nice but I would book a trial with the more expensive mua if you truly love her work. I think you will not only look better but you will definitely be more polished. At the end of the day, like another bee mentioned you are going to spend a good deal of money buying quality foundation, cover up, mascara etc and who knows if you will use it much afterwards.
I also want to say that I think airbrush is a must for such a long day such as your wedding day! My skin is not oily but with any foundation, I start looking oily and feeling gross a few hours into wearing it but my mua used airbrush and I looked and felt great all day with blotting sheets here and there.
