Hi all
i changed my classic comfort fit with Blue Nile to the classic four claw setting. My diamond is a 0.9 carat so not massive. Do you think this looks ridiculously high? My previous setting was set very very low so it might just be the extremes but this is bugging me a bit. I love everything about it except the height. Should I just suck it up and accept that I’m very fussy so probably just nit picking? Does anyone else think it looks silly? If you want to say nice things and reassure me that’s great but I’d like some honest opinions too, I’m ready to cry in my search for the perfect ring. Who would think it was so hard to find a simple solitaire you love.
Do other Blue Nile classic four claw rings sit up this high? If you have one please share!

It doesn’t look silly to me, it looks just fine. Seems like a pretty traditional setting. That said for me it would be too high set. But I am a total accident prone person who is known for getting high set rings caught on things all the time! So I had to have a lower set ring. But that is more for my everyday comfort of wearing the ring. If the high setting doesn’t get in the way of anything you’re doing, then I think it’s great!

@MsKaren: i think it looks like a very traditional setting. it you don’t work with your hands too much, i think you should be fine. some people find this setting to be a nuisance and hit the head too much. you may do that at first if you are not used to the height.

I don’t think it’s high because the base is flush with your band. My setting is also from BN and it looks similar to yours. Since having the setting high makes it easier to find wedding bands, I would try it with a few wedding bands.

I don’t think it looks high at all…in fact, I would almost say it’s a low setting. If you’re used to it being lower then that…you will get used to it after wearing it a while. My e-ring sits up WAY higher then yours.
I think it looks really pretty….can we see a top view?

@MsKaren: It looks high for my taste, but I agree that it is a classic cathedral setting. Isn’t that what you were going for?

@Ms_Purple: thank you for saying it doesn’t look silly. Maybe I just need to get used to it. I just feel a bit sick every time I look at it 🙁
@mypinkshoes: yes I’m a bit worried about hitting it. I don’t work with my hands but I do want a ring I can wear all the time. I don’t even want to wear this in bed but that might be because it’s still new to me and Im not used to it yet
@mnp: I’d love to see a pic if you have one. I joked to Fiance that Blue Nile might of done this to spite me because I call and email them too much!

@megan331979: This is the top view which I love. I don’t know how to spin the picture round. The diamond does seem bigger and sparkler but I don’t know if that’s just in my head!

@MsKaren: I do not think it looks silly at all! Maybe you just need to get used to the high setting? I think it is a beautiful ring, and you said your diamond is 0.9 so not massive, it is not about the size of the ring, it is about the meaning! I see everyone on here knows the specs of their ring I have no idea what mine is lol I could care less it is what my Fiance picked out and could afford and I think it is perfect!

@MsKaren: wow LOVE ur ring from the top view!…btw I don’t think ur setting is overly high, well that’s bcuz I prefer high setting on solitaire, they show off the center stone more IMO! Have u decided on ur band?

@MsKaren: I don’t think it’s high at all. It looks like it should be that way! I think the profile looks perfect. That’s a classic, timeless setting…can’t ever go wrong with a solitaire in my opinion. 🙂

@alreadyawife: I’m very jealous of your ring that looks more like it it’s not as tall and skinny as mine. Can I ask where you got it and what size stone you have?
