My princess solitaire is as high as yours and it took some getting used to, but now that I wear it all the time, it doesn’t feel that high anymore.

@MsKaren:  I don’t think it is too high! It looks great! Here is a picture of mine. (sorry the terrible quality its from my phone)

Personally, high settings do not work for me. I work with my hands and put them on children and in their mouths. But, it looks great on you! Don’t worry, I think it looks timeless and classic.

I think it looks fine. Mine is higher than that, I think. Mine never gets caught on anything. That said, if you don’t like it, maybe try something else. I think most settings probably are similarly high, but you could find something “shorter.”

@MsKaren:  I’ve only had my ring for 2 months but I am already getting the hang of it! It rarely gets caught on anything. I work in a molecular biology lab and I have to wear gloves very often and there doesnt seem to be a problem with that. Maybe if you had more hands on work it might be inconvient. I love my ring and I wouldn’t change a thing about it!

@MsKaren:  My setting is really high as well. I have always worn rings but this one did take some getting used to. I still get it caught on some stuff but you just have to be careful. The higher setting allows for more light to reach the stone which is why it appears more sparkly 🙂

Your new setting looks very elegant. It does make a stone stand out more and have more sparkle when it is set higher. As I’ve read many times on the bee, those with high setting get used to it eventually 🙂

One thing that would concern me is how secure your beautiful stone is while being set high with 4 prongs. Perhaps have it inspected often by a jeweler.

@MsKaren:  My first e-ring was a solitaire with a very high setting (like yours, but 6 prong), I really loved it and I actually didn’t knock it around as much as I knock around my current e-ring (which has a bigger stone, but slightly lower set). And I got a ton of compliments on my first e-ring, the high setting was kind of displayng the rock.

I like the new setting much better. I don’t think it’s that high at all. Mine is much higher, I think. (It’s a cathedral setting.)
