mgh04202017 :  I have a very similar setting from Tacori…. so I know how much $$$ that ring must’ve cost you, especially in a 4 carat diamond…. it is absolutely stunning and I’m sure any woman would be thrilled to receive that ring!

Congratulations!!  You did well!

It’s elegant, but a bit gaudy given the size. It sounds like you’ve consulted her a lot, so she’ll probably love it.

It’s too busy for my tastes but you know her best

It is too busy for me. I generally think people that lean towards step cuts (I have an emerald cut) like simpler settings. But you know her style.

It looks beautiful! It will definitely be a ring you’ll never be tired of looking at! Love the reverse taper on the front part of the band too. We picked out a ring setting that tapers too!

It’s absolutely perfect. Ascher cuts have a different sparkle from rounds they have a different shine which is very nice too, I think the setting is perfect because it brings that sparkle to the mix and makes for gorgeous light reflection in the ascher as well. You couldn’t have done better. The details inside are very elegant. I think she will love it. Instead of something plain and easy this shows that you put much thought into it

mgh04202017 :  I looked at a few Tacori settings and ended up with a .90 Asscher solitaire in a plain simple setting and band that showcases my smaller but albeit perfect to me stone better than a busier setting. Your ring is gorgeous and word to the wise as an Asscher owner that loves my ring to pieces they do not photograph well!

Good luck on your engagement she will love it!

The Asscher catches my eye because it is a ring that is more timeless, has a softer and more feminine feel than the others.  It does not focus on a style to a particular era like the other do (kind of Hollywood roaring 20’s).  I think a 4k may be a bit large, but only it being on her finger will determine that.  Bigger is not necessarily better and a better quality diamond is better than a larger diamond.  When my fiance were looking at rings, he choose bigger stones.  Turns out I accepted a smaller one because it graced my very long fingers nicely and I’m not a fan of big jewelry.  The jeweler who set the stone gave us different options and great advice.  If you want this to be a surprise, give her the option to change it she doesn’t think it’s absolutely perfect.  They are all lovely, but to me, it is according to fit, cut, clarity rather than just carot.
