I’ve never dyed a wedding dress, but I’ve dyed many fabrics. Silk is dyeable, although you’ll have to pick a specific dye made for a protein based material. Read the labels, it’ll tell you if it’s a dye for a synthetic (like polyester), plant based (like cotton) or protein/animal based (like silk or wool). The only potential downside is because it’s a natural fiber, you may see slight variation in the color. Totally doable though. I would personally pick an actual color for the dye (not black) because the fabric will lend itself better to the process. As long as you’re not committed to an exact shade, I think you’ll be happy. You’ll get close to the color you pick, but it’s hard to match exactly.

As far as it being a wedding dress, I think it’s beautiful, classic and elegant. You can easily up the drama with earrings or a statement necklace.

I think this is a stunning wedding dress! I am thinking of dying as well, and I would probably use http://www.metrodyeing.com/

I can’t add anything to what MariContray said but that dress it to die for. Much lovelier than most traditional wedding dresses imho. May I ask where you found it?
